Heavy iPad users and enthusiasts have been clamoring for this feature for years and finally with iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 Apple has finally relented and allowed Bluetooth mouse connection albeit via Assistive Touch in Accessibility Settings.

I have tried the instructions in the article attached with my HP Bluetooth mouse and it definitely works. I have not tried the mouse and keyboard combination as yet because my Bluetooth keyboard is on loan to a friend.

Unfortunately its not a fully committed change to the iPad/iPhone capabilities but that may come in time. To me it's a lot better than jail-breaking which has enabled mouse connection for some time.

Before you get too excited read the article below.

Thans Rod.

I can't check this out because I can't run the iPad OS I can tell our members that Bluetooth keyboards will work even in IOS12 (maybe before that). I've used a Bluetooth keyboard before to do things like replying to text messages. Getting the device at an angle where you can see the screen while typing can be difficult pn some situations. Works with the iPhone as well.

I'm currently using one of those multi device keyboards to direct input from a Mac to PC at the push of a button. Think I'll use the other two keys for the iPad and Apple TV.

I have a cheap BT Keyboard I purchased from Amazon some time back. My iPad Pro has the Apple Keyboard cover with it but the other cheap BT Keyboard will work just as well. As a matter of fact, the cheap BT Keyboard will even work with your Mac.

I didn’t mean to imply I hadn’t tried the Bluetooth keyboard, that was working in iOS 12 and I’ve tried it a few times, airport lounges etc but I have not tried a mouse in conjunction with a keyboard and that’s the real test. Apparently it’s even possible to use a wired mouse. If the two work successfully (despite the fingerprint cursor) togeather that would make the iPad a viable short term replacement for a laptop.

How useful do you think a mouse would be on an iPad? Unless iOS apps are designed in such a way that they can accommodate a mouse, I see no real use for one. Of course I understand that it is probably mainly for accessibility.
