I've been having trouble with my iPhone's microphone and tried everything to fix it, short of taking it to Apple. Today, I reset the phone completely after backing everything up in iTunes and iCloud. When I went to my Gmails, I discovered all my emails are now labeled "no sender" and there are no subjects listed on each email. I have updated to IOS 13.3.1 just today, after I reset it. Any help will be appreciated.

Hate to show my ignorance, but I don’t know and don’t know how to find out. It’s the same I’ve always had for years. Funny thing is that all my emails I get now, including yours, has who it’s from and the subject. But all previous emails are missing the mention info.

I'm thinking your gmail account may be a PoP account but even at that it should show the sender and subject. Gmail will continue to store your mail until you run out of your assigned space. What you can do is access your gmail account by using your browser and sign on to the account. Check to see if the mail is being stored without a sender name and subject. You can check your gmail account from your Mac or PC with your browser.

Yeah, I checked my email earlier today on my iMac. All the emails are there with the info I'm missing on my iPhone. To add to the mystery, I checked my iPad and the emails are just fine. So, I guess it's just an iPhone problem? Since it was the only device i restored today, I'm guessing so meting went wrong in the process. Very frustrating, but on t bright side I can delete unwanted emails on my iMac or iPad and start all over. I really appreciate your interest in my problem.

What’s even more weird is that in looking at all the emails, only a large block of emails have the missing info. Also, the first email that has the “from” and “subject” missing was sent on Jan 11, but there were also some that were sent on the same date that are intact. Scratching my head here.

The fact that your email on the iPad and iMac are normal points to perhaps something going wrong with the reset of your iPhone. Also... if your gmail account is IMAP, then no email should be showing up at all on your iPhone due to the fact that they have already been read on either your iMac or iPad.

I hate to suggest resetting it again especially if you're restoring it from your iTunes or iCloud backup. Resetting the phone and then activating it again as a new phone will certainly cause more work for you. But if you're also having a problem with the phone's mic and intend to take it to Apple, that might also be a good time to let them sort it out for you. If you still have Apple Care on the phone it will only cost you some time waiting around for a genius appointment

Unfortunately, I don’t have AppleCare. My son took the phone to Apple because it stopped working a couple months ago. They replaced the screen and the mike hasn’t worked ever since. We should have taken it back right after I realized the problem, but wasn’t able to. It’s a refurbished phone and I think I got a lemon. Thank you EBay.

Should I select both PoP and iMap in my Gmail settings?

Thanks again.

Okay, thanks for posting back. Glad to hear things are working again.

Some advice on buying a refurbished iPhone:

We recommend buying a refurbished iPhone from Apple's on line refurbished store. Their refurbished phones have a new battery, new case, and come with a one year warranty. They are more expensive than buying from eBay but as the old saying goes... you get what you pay for. :)

Thanks. Good advise. The guy I bought it from skipped the country or at least stopped selling on eBay. He had excellent reviews, but ....... I probably won’t be buying anymore phones, so I hope this one lasts. I’m 75 and am also refurbished LOL.
