I looked around the forums and tried to figure out where I should post this but could not decide. so hoping here is ok.

I was using iPad to compose xmas greetings to several groups of people. I usually do this each year. I put my own email address is to: and then all the others in bcc....
the emails get sent and I hope that all the others in bcc do not show on individual emails.

I sometimes forget who I included in bcc and used to be able to go to my sent email and it would show all the addresses in bcc and I could check. I dont have that feature anymore. I am sure I used it last Dec.

I tried to see if it would show on my MacBook...and nothing there either.

I've read on line where that option is no longer available but it seems to be for bcc being included in mail sent to recipient..... which I agree should not be showing.

I just want bcc showing on email to myself..... for reference.

is there some feature I have to turn on or off?

On the iPad, in Settings > Mail, select “Show To/CC Labels”. This should allow you to see the CC/BCC options. Then you can add whichever you need to have, when you compose a new email message.

Each address in the BCC field will be seen to you only, while composing the email. Those addresses in the CC Field, will be seen by all recipients when they receive the email.

I thought you were looking to have the BCC field showing while you are composing the email messages. If you have multiple email addresses, you can test it by sending it from one address and BCC it to your other addresses.

well I tested it.....I entered my first email address in TO; and then entered two others in BCC line
email were sent. I checked the first one and it showed the BCC..good
but the other two also showed the BCC and that is not what I wanted.

oh well...on to try something else.

You, as the author, can always see the BCC lines and all of the folks you sent the BCC to. I can't follow what you said you did, exactly.

To do what you said you did, you would need four addresses. Addy1 is the FROM: address for all the emails. Then you put Addy2 as the TO: line in the email, with Addy3 and Addy4 in the BCC line. Now you send it.

From Addy1, you can see everything, as you are the sender in that account.
From Addy2, you can see Addy1 as FROM and Addy2 as TO: but nothing about the other two.
From Addy3, you can see Addy1 as FROM and Addy2 as TO: plus Addy3 as a BCC but not Addy4
From Addy4, you can see Addy1 as FROM and Addy2 as TO: plus Addy4 as a BCC, but not Addy3

Is that what you did?

Lori

I do this all the time. What you say you did is the correct way.

To repeat: Send the email To: yourself. Everyone else is sent BCC.

What that means is that you see all the emails.

All the other people see only the email sent to them. They cannot see the names, email addresses of the others.

In fact, each recipient on the BCC list is totally unaware that any other recipients exist. Each recipient sees the one and only email and it shows it came from you.

Hope that helps.

Just be aware that not all email providers will allow you to send to yourself. That is a common spammer trick and some email providers block it. If that happens, you can try leaving the TO: line blank and see if it will go as just a BCC. Note, however, that again some email providers block incoming messages with only BCC recipients because that, too, is a spammer technique. Basically, you want to sent what looks like spam to the machines so you may have to be a bit creative to get past the spam filters.

Jake...thnx...that worked just fine on my MAC and I did not change any specs in mail. so that part is working. tho will try on my iPad and see how that goes. I still may have to change mail specs to include CC.
