iOS 13 on iPhones

David I'm not sure about the UK, I'm in Indonesia but I have been running iOS beta public versions, now up to iOS 13.1 beta 4. The final beta of iOS 13.0 seemed absolutely fine to me on my iPhone 7 but bear in mind that beta 13.1 came out almost immediately so that would seem to indicate there was room for improvement in 13.0.

Having said that I had no problems with my day to day use with iOS 13 and along with Dark Mode, which I love, there are quite a few new and improved features. Some will not be fully functional though until the phone is working in conjunction with macOS Catalina eg. Reminders. I have not had any syncing or backup problems using macOS Mojave with iOS 13 though.
So as long as you do a full backup first (always advised) and your iPhone is compatible (iPhone 6S onwards) then by all means give it a try.

I think the public version of iOS 13.1 will be out in a couple of days so you might like to wait for that;
"Apple released iOS 13 to the public on Thursday, September 19, and then will follow it up with iOS 13.1 on Tuesday, September 24. iOS 13.1 will bring features like Share ETA in Maps and Shortcut Automations that weren't quite ready for iOS 13's release."

Regarding the backup yes I do a backup with the means of iCloud,Would you think that would be sufficient enough for a backup.

I’m a belt and braces man so I believe in having more than one backup option for everything

My iPhone X is backed up to iCloud and iTunes and iMazing, a third party app of excellence.

Hi Thanks Ian regarding your reply yes I suppose I should have more than one as the MacBook I use icon and time machine not set to a regular time I just decide when I duo it.
I also do a drag & drop of the documents that are in my personal folder in finder the one like a little house.

The iMazing, been looking at that piece of kit looks good but also rather expensive is it just a one off payment? or a early subscription ?

David, I too like Ian believe in more than one backup so I have an iMazing, iTunes and iCloud Backup. I like the iCloud backup because of portability, I can effectively do it anywhere I have a good internet connection without any other devices. If on the other hand my iPhone becomes unusable for some reason then I need a program like iTunes or iMazing to erase and reinstall both an iOS and my data.
But say I was on holiday overseas, my phone is irreversibly damaged or lost, I do not have my computer with me so I go to an Apple Store, buy a new iPhone, set it up with my details, login to iCloud with my Apple ID then I can restore from my iCloud backup right there in the store. In less than an hour I can have all my contacts, Files, calendars settings and preferences including saved passwords. Just like my old phone.
There is also a considerable time difference when it come to restoring a backup online. In an Apple store I would expect to be able to restore my phone to a working duplicate of my previous device fairly quickly but if I had to restore a lot of third party apps as well as an iCloud Photo library it could take me 4-5 hrs at home.
Whereas I can do the same process at home with iMazing in an hour.

A one time payment, David. You can sometimes find "special offers" for new customers; but even at the full price, I think it's worth it. It is just so comprehensive. And you can choose where to store the backups - it doesn't have to be on your Mac; it could be on an External Hard Drive (EHD) for example.

I have to echo what the guys have said so far. I've been running IOS 13 Public betas since shortly after they were announced. I use my phone an (XS model) for calls, messages, navigation, and a bit of music playback. I haven't had any issues so far.

I also use iMazing for regular backups and find it very helpful. Now that IOS apps are downloaded and managed through the device it's a good way to backup the apps, and their data, in case you need to restore an app. Re-downloading all those apps again can be a tedious process if you have a slow internet connection. It also helps if you have an app that still works for you but is no longer in the App Store.
