This feature seems as straight forward as one can and yes, it has been enabled on iPhone 8 Plus with iOS 12.4.1.

1. Settings
2. Do not disturb
3. Do not disturb while driving

On the other hand, it does not work. I am driving, get a text and sender does not get my do not disturb while driving message.

Is there any additional settings that needs to be enabled for this to work, like location? I do limit location services to just a few applications, like Maps, Compass, etc., that actually need it.

PS: Yes, I would add an image for this setting, but the forum does not let me. Getting the Forum message of "You do not have permission to perform this function..."

In the settings, what do you have enabled for "Auto Reply To"? I have mine set to Favorites, so only contacts that I have marked as favorites will get the notification.

I had mine set to "All Contacts", but will try "Favorites" next.

The do not disturb message should work for all contacts as well, no?

Works for me. You shouldn't have to specify "favorites".

As far as how I understand it, when "Favorites" is selected, only Favorites in my Contacts will be notified that I am driving, others will not get the notification, or that's what it sounds like to me?

Thanks everyone...

The actual issue is that neither of them work on my iPhone 8+. I've tested it yesterday, going ~40 MPH, both on land and water, and it still does not work. Shutting down the iPhone and starting it up after a substantial delay did not resolve the issue.

I've checked my significant other's iPhone 6s settings that works just fine. There are minor differences in System Services settings, but overall, they are very similar.

The setting that might make a difference is that on my my phone Wi-Fi is only enabled, if an when an update requires it. Hers has Wi-Fi enabled all the times. I don't see how that could make a difference, but at this point, I'll try anything...

I have iphone7. at some point I created auto reply message in do not disturb.
this is what shows up on her text msg....
I’m driving. I’ll see your message when I have phone on.... I presume this is from my do not contact list.

(I’m not receiving notifications. If this is urgent, reply “urgent” to send a notification through with your original message.).... can find where I entered this....

my friend who has my old SE said she would like that also. I guided her to settings.. do not disturb, she says on her phone it says enable, it will continue until she turns it off. not sure what she means. she is not tech at all and I try to help as much as I can.

during Covid.... we cannot visit and so I cannot look at her phone settings. not sure if she has contacts only selected or not.

does SE have an issue with this do not disturb?

Please find out what iOS version the SE is running?

If she goes to Settings > Do Not Disturb, there should be an option if she scrolls down for, "Do Not Disturb While Driving".

Yes, the first option in DND will activate it, until it is turned off. There is an "Automatic" setting which will allow a time to set for On/Off, if you prefer. I have mine enabled and it activates at 10pm and turns off at 7am.

Mine still does not work with "Automatic" settings, regardless of the transportation type and speed. On the other hand, it does work, if I manually enabled it.

I'd challange Apple to connect my iPhone via bluetooth to my 22 years old pickup truck...:devilish:

Those are 2 different settings. When I said DND "Automatic", I actually meant "Scheduled". "DND While Driving" is a different option altogether, and Automatically must be enabled, the Default is off, I believe.

Oops, sorry for misunderstanding your post.

My post was about the "DND While Driving", that still does not work automatically...
