This is the best article I have found on the method (How to download iPadOS 13 public beta 1 to your iPad | iMore) and I am in the process of downloading iPad OS 13 as I write this. iMore is a good site but like every instruction manual it doesn't cover everything or every situation.

I for example have 2SV on my Apple account so as soon as I logged into the Apple Beta testing site I was asked to verify my login and location on another "trusted device" in this case my MBP. I had to enter the 6 digit passcode on the iPad before proceeding.

You will also receive onscreen instructions on the procedure after you have successfully Enrolled your iPad and once they started to appear I followed them.

The download process is now running and estimated time till completion is currently 1 hour, but in the beginning it was 9 hours then 4 hours so don't place too much reliance on the initial estimate.

Another caution; make sure your device is plugged into AC power and on WiFi first. I made the small mistake of moving the iPad from the USB connection to my MBP to the AC power adapter in the bedroom where the WiFi signal is stronger and it caused the download to pause. It restarted without a hiccup but why not spare yourself the anxiety.

I will follow up on this post with my findings on iPad as soon as completed.

As always remember this is a beta. In the worst case scenario it could brick your device. Make sure you have followed the excellent backup instructions first as suggested.

Thanks for that heads up Rod. I didn't know the beta had droped. I've been without internet all day.

I have something to do tomorrow that's going to take about three hours or so. Once I get that done I'll be taking a look at the betas ASAP.

I've decided to stay away from the iOS and iPadOS betas for now. Testing and fooling with Catalina is enough to keep me busy. Besides, it's a lot more difficult to go back after installing an iOS beta than a macOS beta.

I can imagine Catalina would keep you very busy for a while. I have gone the other way because I have a new iPad. So having the advantage of trialing the new iOS on something other than my iPhone was just too tempting.
I downloaded and installed iPadOS 13 yesterday with no problems and let me say the articles I’ve read are correct, this is a major overhaul with so many changes I’m struggling to decide what new feature to try next and each trial leads to discovering other changes along the way.
Suffice to say I’m glad I did not load it onto my iPhone first. Although there are some distinctive differences between the iPad OS and iOS I’m glad I’m getting some experience and practice on another device other than my primary.

The iPad OS beta hasn't popped for me yet even though I enrolled the device a few hours ago. I need to make sure my iPad can handle the beta.

If it’s a Pro you’re pretty safe. I have iPad ver6 and I think comparability goes down to ver4. Just check the procedure in my attached article. There are a couple of steps after enrolling the device you need to follow before the beta version download becomes available.

It's an iPad Air. The Profile seems to download OK and when I tap install it asks me to reboot. When I check the profile it says something like iPad OS beta profile. That's as far as I've gotten. I had it plugged into usb port on my hub but I've lugged it into the wall now in case that's an issue.

You need to install the Profile first. Installing the Profile is not made very clear but without installing it, you can not proceed with installing the beta.

Yeah, I decided after all to install the beta on my 10.5" iPad Pro. I haven't put it thru its paces yet but so far it looks good. I like the dark mode although it's a bit darker than the dark mode on my Mac.

Yes second that, it's not as clear as it could be, the profile after you download it is in Settings > General > Profile you need to click on it then approve installation then the option to download the beta iPadOS will appear in Software Updates. The iMore instructions don't really cover this perfectly but note they do mention that if you already have an old beta Profile you may need to remove it first. But if it reads iOS 13 & iPadOS 13 Beta software you've got it.

I do have a query about iPadOS 13 though.
When I drag right on the first Home Screen I get the Widget list and Siri Suggestions at the top and on the iPhone and iOS 12 on the iPad there used to be a search bar (Spotlight) at the very top. Now it's gone! I have searched but cannot find it. I'm sure I've missed something here but at the moment I'm stumped.
Other than that I like Dark Mode and in particular the resizing of the app icons allowing me to have all of my most used apps on the first Home page.
I have finally worked out Slide Over and a number of other things but it really is filled with changes large and small and I haven't had as much time to play as I would have liked.
PS HandOff seems to work better than before and I think I may get to like Photos a little more, only scratched the surface so far.
More to come.;D

GOT IT ! This is actually the method for accessing Siri Search (Spotlight) from way back in iOS 11 only I must have been behind the door when this was discussed because I've never used it. Simply place your finger in the middle (not the top) of any Home screen and drag down to the bottom. Here's the article How to access and use Siri Search Suggestions (Spotlight) on your iPhone and iPad | iMore
As I'm the source of all Apple knowledge in our home my wife didn't know either and was delighted when I showed her on her new iPhone, although I'm not sure why.

That's what has me puzzled. The last time I tried it yesterday I got the install option on the beta profile and ran that. The iPad rebooted as expected but the download for the IOS beta still hasn't appeared. The profile currently shows as IOS beta and iPadOS 13 beta. After the first attempt I was left with an IOS 12 and 13 beta profiles so I deleted the 12 beta profile.

I think it might be easier to delete the profiles and start again. Download the Beta iPadOS 13 profile, click on it and approve installation of the profile then after it has successfully installed check software updates and the Beta version should come up as a download option.

My last post wasn't very clear. As far as I can tell, I've done that. That's what has me confused.

You might be stuck in a beta standstill. The problem with the beta profile is once you download it, the system remembers you and your Apple ID and won't allow you to download it again. I had the same thing happen to me several years ago when I was testing High Sierra. I finally just gave up and waited for the actual release.

You can try a reset but you'll be back to iOS 12.3.1 after restoring from backup. After that it won't let you download the profile again unless they changed the way they administer the public betas.

Not that big an issue. I just thought it might be interesting to try it. I may try again to see what happens.

Aw, sorry to hear that. I hope you have better luck second time around. Maybe if the profile didn’t actually instal first try you might have success. Do you actually have the Beta iPadOS 13 profile already in General Settings? There are obviously some variations in the process for different devices. I am now pretty confident that it’s stable enough to instal on my iPhone so I’m doing that right now. When I clicked instal on the profile, I was presented with the EULA before clicking update then my device restarted as expected but took me directly to the Software Update window with the iOS 13 upgrade already downloading, thus skipping a step that was on the iPad, (Download & Install).

Yes. The profile is there and IIRC the reboot that should lead to the software download happens. The download never happens. I have a second Apple ID so I may use that one. It'll probably depend on how much this annoys me. LOL.
