Good Morning all

iPhone 6s+, iOS 12.3.1

This phone connects via bluetooth to my mom's car to answer phone calls and play music. Several weeks ago, the playlist stopped shuffling the songs. It now starts with the same song every time she gets in the car and plays in the same order. We have set the playlist on the phone to shuffle, but this does not help. The first few times she thought, "Gee, that's odd." Now, after several weeks of this, it has become VERY annoying.

I am not sure if the problem is in the phone or the car radio. The car is a 2010 or so Lexus.

She says it started just after I did something to her phone. I really don't remember doing anything to her phone, but right now, how I remember things is not relevant. If anyone has any ideas how to correct this problem and keep my mom from dis-owning me I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Jeff

I mention the obvious here, forgive me, but it will always start with the same song unless you cancel shuffle for that particular Playlist; then choose that playlist again and either just choose Shuffle - or choose a song somewhere in that playlist, then choose shuffle.

That has not been our experience. I know we have gotten out of the car when a song somewhere in the middle of the playlist was playing, and when we came back later, it picked up right where the song left off. She has been linking the phone via bluetooth for a few years now, and this has just started happening. Maybe it is something to do with one of the iOS updates.

Yes. That's what it's supposed to do.

But in your case, it seems that it is starting with the same song each time and going through them in the same order as before.

To stop this: I suggest you consider doing what I mentioned above. Stop the playlist. Then tap on it again. Choose a song half way down the list, and once started, then touch Shuffle.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to restart the iPhone before you do this. Restarting an iOS device often clears up glitches like this.

I've had this problem once a long time ago and stopping the playlist then restarting it with a song at random, then engaging shuffle solved it.

BTW - not relevant I'm sure - but I too have a Lexus:)

Thanks IWT,

I'll try this out with mom this weekend.
