For storage reasons I've decided to use Mac Mail on my old iPad mini running iOS 9.3.5 but although I remember this issue I can't remember the solution.
The right and left swipe action options in settings do not include Trash. I can use the "move to" action but that is incredibly slow. Can anyone remember how to activate swipe to trash?

AHA! It's okay, problem solved. About 5 min after I reflexivly posted my question on the new Mac Forums iOS app (any excuse to use it) I remembered something about advanced settings in individual accounts in the Mail, Contacts & Calendars preferences.
Sure enough it was there and needs to be set for each account individually but done now.
I could never really understand why "Archive" is/was the default. Maybe it's an individual thing but I seldom ever archive any email.
Either I leave it for later, star it, move it to a custom folder like online receipts or I trash it.
Still thats just me.
