I downloaded an app for my security camera for my iPhone. The version is 3.4.0. When I did I got a notice that an update was available as 3.4.1. Being a good boy I
updated to the new version. Well, you might know that the newest version as a bug. So I deleted the new version. I downloaded the older version but it seems to updated itself
to the version with the bug. How can I completely delete the app to start over? Is the app leaving some data that doesn't go away with the deletion and causes the
update? What am I missing? Thanks

Apps are downloaded on iOS from the App Store. When a new version of an App is sent to the App Store, the older versions are no longer available for download. The only way you would work around this is to keep a copy of the App file in your local iTunes folder.

So how did you download the older version?

You asked, "So how did you download the older version?"

Maybe that is it. When I looked at the version in the app store it said it was 3.4.0. That is the one I downloaded. Then I got a notice that there was an update to 3.4.1. I have contacted the developer and identified the problem. They said
they would verify the problem and fix it in the next update. I guess I can wait until then. Hopefully not to long. Thanks.

That's interesting. I'm wondering if you download a version (say 3.4.0) of a particular app and that app is updated to 3.4.1 in the store. The App Store will notify you. Any new person who downloads the app for the first time should get version 3.4.1. However, if you were to delete the 3.4.0 version of app and then go back to the App Store, you will not have the GET icon, but rather the Cloud icon with a down arrow indicating that you already 'purchased' the app and can re-download it. So when you re-download it, does it give you the version you bought at 3.4.0 or the updated 3.4.1 version.

Based on what you are seeing/saying, it seems like you are getting the version you downloaded previously and being prompted about the update since there IS an update.

Either way, glad you contacted the developer and that they are going to fix it.
