    Apple Maps /Google Maps questions?
My wife and I visit one of two neighboring cities three / four times a year but rarely more than that so we don't bother memorizing directions to our destinations. It's just easier to make use of the navigation features on our phones. I prefer Apple Maps and she prefers the Google mapping app. We're comfortable but not fluent with either app so if you know the answer to these questions for either app chime in:

    1. Since we usually stop at several different places when running these errands is there a way to enter the addresses for several stopping points at once and then have either program pull up directions to each of the waypoints in sequence without having to manuaally enter them at each stopping point: Feed the program addresses A, B, C, and D the night before then walk through them the next day without having to enter information.

    2. Google Maps can list the steps to a destination as a series of steps in a text list that is easy to read. Can this view be duplicated with Apple Maps? If so, how?

Never did like Apple Maps. Several years ago I was supposed to be at a funeral in Dallas and could not find the funeral home. Used Apple Maps that day trying to find the home and wound up getting lost. It was just a stroke of luck that I found the place in time. Google Maps have never gotten me lost. Enough said about that.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. Google Maps got me so lost one time I had to stop and ask where I was. That was the last time I used Google Maps application.

I use Waze and enter the destinations in advance. That way when I want to go to multiple locations, I just have to tap the name in the history list. The most recent enters are at the top, so if you enter the data the night before, then on the day they should be on top.

Jake, have you found a way to enter multiple stops (more than 2)? I know Waze will allow you to add a second stop to a route. but sometimes I may need to add more than one stop.

I also use Waze, as it has "community sourcing", which allows other users, to post notifications around them (and you). Police, construction, accidents, road closings, etc. I also like the way Waze imports your Calendar appointments, and notifies of when you should leave the next morning to make it at the scheduled time.

Please backup. Everything has a life cycle, unexpected and warning free. Nothing will last as long as you want it to.

Bob, what I do is to enter the locations I'm going to need the night before. That way they are at the top in history, as I said. Then I drive to the first one, do whatever I need, then get back in the car, open Waze, get to the history and tap the place I want. No typing, just one tap. I haven't found a way to enter more that two, as you said. I think that's just how it works.

    1. I don't think there is a way to do what you want it to do, unfortunately. You can swipe up on the bottom menu after starting a route and detour to a gas station, "food," or "coffee" but there doesn't seem to be any function to detour anywhere else nor set up a multiple-stop route from the get-go. Sort of an odd lack of functionality.

    2. Swipe up the bottom menu and click "Details" for a list of each step.

I've used Apple Maps many times without issue, but oddly twice in the last week it has taken me in the exact opposite direction of my destination. It's very odd. It gets me to the right street, but then tells me the wrong way to turn. However, if I pull the destination up as a "place" (obviously this would only work for businesses and such), then it navigates to it correctly, even though it's the same address that I entered directly. Strange strange strange.
