Best free or paid easy iPhone to Macbook Pro file transfer program?
    Hello,

I've been looking online for programs to transfer files (photos, music, etc.) from my iphone to my Macbook Pro running OSX 10.8, but I can't find one that does what I want.

I don't want to make a backup file, which is what the free programs I've found do. I want a program that allows me to connect my iPhone to my Macbook via USB and move files from it to a folder on my laptop.

Free is preferred but if there's an easy to use program that's able to be bought online and downloaded right away, I'm willing to try it.

    Thanks!

iCloud should do that? iTunes will do that? They're both free with your Apple ID.

Please backup. Everything has a life cycle, unexpected and warning free. Nothing will last as long as you want it to.

Well, without the least offence intended, you are making life difficult for yourself because Apple designed these two features to achieve exactly what you are seeking.

So be it, your choice and that's an end to it. Give iMazing a try: https://imazing.com. There is a free trial version available. It does all you want and much more. Read the info in detail and you will see all it can do including transferring Files & Documents.

Not cheap, but a top app in my opinion, based on long term use of it.

Other than iCloud and iTunes, there are:

AirDrop (part of iOS and MacOS)

Oh...one more way... this might seem so obvious that you've overlooked it, but you can transfer files as an e-mail attachment.

You can even send really huge e-mail attachments (up to 5GB) via Mail Drop if you are running a recent version of the Mac OS:

Why, may I ask, when this is the time saving option? What apps are you using to store such items? Seems daft having Apple products and not using the in-built automatic sync features. You can set it so that documents, photos etc are shared on your devices only, not in the cloud. I have 35,000 photos on my MBP and am certainly not paying Apple to retain them in iCloud (nor do I keep all on my phone).

Another option is to use Air Drop. Log your phone/MBP as Airdrop users. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT203106

Alternatively, connect phone via cable to computer and drag the chosen items to your MBP. Terribly long winded.
