Did you check in the Clock app and confirm that no alarm has been set? Did you get the ability on the screen to Snooze the alarm when it did happen?

I checked the clock, there are alarms set for 6:00 and 6:30
I honestly can't remember..I don't think so though because I was frantically hitting the button on the side to get it to stop
it happened at 8:00 am

I just got this phone Friday and restored settings from backup
As I said before I never have an alarm set for that time..but since it went off, why didn't it go off yesterday or over the weekend? just wierd

If there is no alarm set for 8AM, it's strange that it would go off. Was it possibly a different type of alert? You might want to check your sound settings to see if you are using the same sound for all the alerts. Could be a weather alter, amber alert and so on. You can opt out of these thing in Settings assuming that's what it was.

I guess I will just have to go and see which things are using the alarm default sound and go from there.
I was just hoping someone had heard of this happening or something and had an easy fix.

If no fix I will be sure to have my phone turned way down at 8:00 tomorrow morning.. lol

thanks for your help

I have a new iPhone Xs and it doesn't misbehave in any way and no alarm should be going off unless the phone is instructed/scheduled to do so. No magic here and no way of 'fixing' anything until you know what the cause of the alarm was.
