iPhone 6 Restore

When I open iTune, I see 2 restores and which is which ?? Restore on both iPhone and Backups. At top says iOS 12, is that to restore everything, OS X and data or just OS X ? Other one is Backups, Restore Back up for Data only??

The first is to restore the iPhone back to factory settings for iOS 12.0 while the second is to restore a backup that you have made of your phone. iPhones/iPads/iPods all run iOS and NOT OS X/mac OS.

Choosing the first one will essentially make the phone as if you just bought it erasing everything, so you would only do that if you are selling the phone or in dire circumstances when you don't have a good backup to put back on the phone.

And, Ron - not wishing to intrude or cause offence; but when you backup, tick the box "Encrypt iPhone backup". This does what it says, adding another layer of security; but also enables the backup to include encrypted passwords and Health Data.

Really important if syncing between devices as well as being more secure.
