Occasionally, my iPhone won’t connect. If I click on “All inboxes” I’ll get a message at the bottom of my All Inboxes list saying, “Updated at hh:mm.” where hh:mm may have been several hours ago when I last connected to Mail. At the same time. if I try to connect to a URL in Safari, it returns a message “Safari cannot to the server.” At the same time, my wife’s iPhone seems to have no problem on her iPhone. Likewise, occasionally, she will have the same problems on her phone, and I will not. Either way, the problem goes away a few minutes later (but those few minutes can be excruciating!). We both use T-Mobile, and they’re probably the source of the problem. When this happens, is there a way for us to “goose” the phone and make them work? I’ve tried to take everything out of memory and reconnect. That didn’t work. I tried to power cycle the phone, but that didn’t work either. Any suggestions? (Other than getting a new provider!)

Me: iPhone SE, IOS 12.0
My wife: iPhone 6 (?), IOS 12.0

When you say won't connect, are you on cellular or WiFi at the time? And how is connectivity in general where you live? Here in the Dallas - Fort Worth area of Texas, connectivity and reception is very good with T-Mobile and with other carriers as well. If you are in a rural area where there are fewer T-Mobile towers, I would expect poor performance at times. However, both your phones should be okay when on WiFi which is why I asked.

I can’t say for sure that I’m always on cellular or WiFI when it happens, but I can say that the last 2 times it happened, we were not on WiFi. Also, I am not in a rural area, so that shouldn’t be an issue.

Since the latest iOS update (12), I cannot get AOL (at least AOL mail, the only AOL I use) to work on my iPhone. I try to add it as an account, put in my email address and (valid) password and it just doesn’t “take”. No indication that it doesn’t recognize either u/n or p/w, it just doesn’t add AOL as an account.

How are you adding your AOL account? What screen is that done on?

Any other comments on my non-AOL issue?

Since iOS12 I have had several occasions where my iPhone did not connect to 4G after I moved from Home (Wifi) to Office (4G).

It required a forced reboot to fix it.

Doesn't happen every time but has happened on iPhone 6S+ (iOS12) and iPhone 5S (Beta of iOS12.1), but not yet on iPhone SE (iOS12)
