iCloud backup says backup is 0KB

We have 2 iPhones and 2 iPads, All using different iOS versions and linked to different iCloud accounts. I just noticed the other day that the automatic iCloud backups report that they backed up, but when I look at manage storage, my device name, it says 0KB. Next backup will be several MB in size. I have plenty of space still available (several GB).

I have tried deleting the backup and toggling iCloud backup off / on. If I then look at the iCloud space used it is 0. I run the next backup and it takes some time. The iCloud space used says several GB, but the details of the last backup still say it is 0KB.

Don't know how long this has been going on, but cant imagine it is something on my end with 4 independent devices doing the exact same thing.

Please provide more information? Exactly where are you getting your "information"? Which screens are you accessing to get your numbers"? Backup only backs up data, not media, on your devices.

I'm going to settings- My name - iCloud -iCloud space used graph - manage storage
then under "backups" - Jack's iPhone (this phone) 0KB


It always shows 0KB irregardless of me taking photos, adding contacts or other data, etc.
It does show next backup with a number, but after backup it shows that backup was 0KB.
If I delete all backups the last backup shows 0KB, but the amount of used space is correctly many GB.

My iCloud, says I’ve used 862.3 MB of my 5 GB allowance. If I go into Manage Storage, my Backups show 636.6 MB used, then it lists all the other apps using the rest of the storage space in iCloud to sync their data. When I go into Backups, it says there is 1 backup. I am using an iPhone 8 Plus running iOS 12.

I think you may have to log out of iCloud on one device at a time , then log back in, and see if it starts working correctly? Or it may be time to reset your iPhone(s). In Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings? This will not erase any of your information.

Personally, I would strongly suggest you also keep your own backup using an application such as iMazing.app.
Well worth the price, especially if you have any thing of value or importance on your iDevices. Just saying…

Nope. Logging out and back in didnt help, and neither did a general reset.
Didnt think it would as this happening on all of my devices all different IOS version and all different icloud accounts.
