I just got a new iPhone Xs. The process of transferring from my old iPhone 8 went well, except for photos. I have about 8000 photos in iCloud, on my Mac in Photos and on my iPad in Photos. But the new iPhone is taking forever to transfer, and it seems to start and stop. Yesterday about 60 GB of my iPhone storage was shown as "Pictures" but when I tried to look at some of them on the phone, I got a "downloading" message that never cleared. So Ieft it overnight to sync up the photos. Today the space taken by Photos is well under 1 GB.
So, what's going on? What settings should I have in place to get the 8000+ photos onto my iPhone? I tried using iTunes, but that functionality for syncing now says to set it up on the iPhone. I tried iMazing, but it wants to create a new album to import into, and I don't think that's what I want. I just want what's on my iPad, Mac and iCloud to be on the new iPhone, as it was on the old one.
