Automatic Downloads have been turned on for my Music, Apps, Books & Audiobooks, and Updates on my iPad and iPhone since “the beginning,” yet none of my other apps ever show up, and they are not automatically updated. What do I need to do to have them automatically updated?

Only Apps that have been purchased from the App Store are automatically updated if you have that option turned on. And only those Apps which are still available from Apple are downloaded and updated. Some Apps that you have may no longer be available from the App Store. For example, current versions of iOS no longer support 32 bit iOS Apps. You need to check the App Store to see which Apps you have are still available.

Maybe some information about your devices would help to confirm your settings are working properly?

There have been 18 versions of the iPhone, not including the versions just announced. Believe it or not, there have been 15 versions of the iPad, because of the different sizes. The versions of iOS vary as well. What versions are you running?

If you have them set to "update automatically", then that means you will not have to manually update them. They will update, when they are not in use.

I have an iPhone SE, IOS version 11.4.1, and an iPad 7, version 11.4.1, also.

The 4 apps that I mentioned above are automatically updating. The others are not. But it seems that chsag explained that pretty good.

I didn't notice any such "4 apps" mentioned, at least not by app name.

Maybe google on those apps not updating and see what version they might or should be and/or why they aren't updating.

PS: How do you know that some of the apps are not updating? Maybe they don't even have an update available.

I believe the OP was referring to “Music, Apps, Books & AudioBooks” as the 4 apps in question.

OK, but just a wee bit generalized eh what??? And only Apple's default iOS apps specifically I guess. :Smirk:

Thanks.
