As the title says... iOS 12 can now be downloaded.

Please make sure you backup your iPhone or iPad to iTunes or iCloud first.

I have just downloaded iOS 12 to my Mini iPad 2 and as far as I can tell, there are no issues so far. It appears to have made the elderly Mini 2 noticeably slicker! I did the usual backup to iTunes beforehand.

That was pretty painless with no problems on either phone or pad.

I noticed that, on my iPad, the wifi icon has now moved from the left hand side of the screen to the right. Do you reckon that someone, being paid a fortune at Apple, shouted across the offfice, "Oh and while you are buiding update 12 just put the wifi icon on the opposite side of the screen for iPads"???

I'll wait couple of weeks until fixes come out, if any for iPhone 8+...

More likely a lengthy detailed memo from his highness Sir Jonathan Ive wanting it moved so as not to upset any sense of balance.

I've noticed an issue on my iPad, where I can't change the name of one "app folder". When I combined Apple apps into a folder, it generated a name based on the apps I used to start the folder, but it's not letting me change that name?

How to Rename Files & Folders in iOS Files App

Hi Patrick, It’s not a “file folder”, it’s whatever you call it, when you group certain apps together, in iOS? I consider it a folder of apps? I can do it on my iPhone, so I may have to try a clean install, to see if it works. I can live with it for now. I just put some of the new iOS apps into a “folder” and came across this issue.

Can you remove all the "grouped apps" from that "folder" and try creating it again but installing the apps in a different order?

I don't know if that would help any, but maybe something got stuck or something.

I have been using my iPad 2 very little lately and tend to forget how some things are done. I don't find the iOS exactly intuitive either and think they could have done much better as they were basically starting from scratch not too long ago with a brand new OS. Anyway, we got what we got and try and make it work for us I guess!!!

I would have thought that doing a clean install would be overkill but maybe that's what it will take. Good luck.

BTW: Did you try using the OSXDaily suggestions???

So this is no longer Beta, but the Full Release?

Now I have iOS12 my iPhone no longer shows my own mobile number at the top of the Contacts list.

Any way to get that back please?

This is on an iPhone 6S+

Incidentally, does it have any additions that do not require an iPhone X?

Do you forget your own number often? :)

However, the contact list should have your name on top with the words "My Card" and clicking on that should take you to all the information about you on the phone.

It's there for me on an iPhone 8+. I just installed the 12.1 Beta a few minutes ago. I'm pretty sure it has been there for me on every release. With the iPhone "app" open make sure you are showing Contacts and not one of the other views. You name should apprear just below the search filed. Tap there and it will show. It does the same thing if I open the actual Cpntacts pp but there is no need to shift views.

If you click on "Groups" what options do you have? I only have iCloud, but you may also have "On This Device" option.

Here's Apple's IOS 12 info list. I believe the vast majority of stuff dies not require an iPhone X. I'm running it fine on an 8+ though there are some features I can't test in my setup. Now that the public release is out I'll probably put it on the wife's 6S unless we decide it is time she had a new phone.
