It shoudn't matter as long as you're running iOS 12. The differences between an iPhone X and the earlier phones are strictly hardware ones. As Ashwin pointed out, your card should be the first on at the top of the contact list. And like Bob stated above if you have groups defined, make sure you have the correct group showing on your phone.

@Nighthawk

Have read of this article which describes how to set up your name as My Card so that it recognises you as the owner. In fact, in Contacts, when you bring up your name, it should have “me” alongside it.

Incidentally, does the iPhone no longer charge on an iMac anymore now it has iOS12?

I plugged my old iPhone 5S into the iMac whilst it installed the latest beta of iOS12.1 and the battery went flat from about half-charged, even though it was plugged in the whole time. A mains charger worked fine.

Might be just my old iMac which only has USB2 sockets.

Are you using the Apple cord, or an after market cord? I also know sometimes when I connect my older iPhone 6, and if iTunes was already up and running, I would have to restart iTunes, for the cord to work properly.

It is an Apple USB-Lightning cable. Not running iTunes - just charging the device.

That could be it. USB 2 puts out less voltage than USB 3. I usually charge all my iDevices from the mains rather than my iMac.

My iPhone 6S+ now says no Internet available. Turn on mobile data - which is turned on :(

Edit - A forced reboot fixed this :)

Siri worked just fine on locked iPhone 8+ and 6S prior to updating. With iOS 12, Siri works with unlocked phone, but not when the iPhone is locked. In which case, Siri asks to unlock the phone prior to reading messages. The related settings shows:

siri access.jpg

Are there other settings that need to be changed to allow access to text messages and reply for locked phone? Siri does make a call, even if the phone is locked.

And no, there had been no changes in the settings, unless the update in itself made some changes.

Every time I encounter this type of issues, Steve Jobs statement echoes in my head, "If it suppose to work...." :Angry::Lips-Are-Sealed:

@Cr00zng

Try settings > Notifications > Show Previews > Then choose Always, When Unlocked or Never. (Always includes when Locked, I believe).

As regards Siri, try:

Settings > Siri & Search > Allow Siri When Locked

Please do tell us if that helped - or, of course not:)

The suggested settings were already in place, except the "Show Preview" was set "When Locked". Changing it to "Always" made no difference. Shutdown/restart the iPhone also made no difference either...

Thanks for trying Ian, any other idea?

You beat us to posting the first normal thing to do when something doesn't work that should.

Well done.

Patrick - the same thing happened again this morning.

A forced reboot fixed it but it is going to be annoying if I have to do that every day when I move from Wifi to 4G.

Did you use “Airplane Mode” at all? Look in your Control Center (swipe up) to see what is turned on/off by default?

Not on Airplane Mode. Data is enabled.

Was working at Home on Wifi.
Brought it to Work, where I do not have any Wifi, so it should revert to using 4G for Data as well as calls.

This has never been a problem until I upgraded to iOS12. Has required a forced reboot each day since that.

There is a beta for iOS12.1 I believe. Anyone know if that fixes this problem please?

This is my main phone so I don't want to risk a beta on that.

Bummer!!!
I'm fairly well known for my patients, but I would already be quite angry if I was experiencing the same problems that you are.

I don't use and I'm not exposed to iOS very much so hopefully some iOS guru member Will have a solution for you. Or maybe even Apple support may have an answer for you.
