I had a video that I wanted to download from my phone to my Mac. Usually I would plug it in and iPhoto would pop up (which was kind of annoying most of the time).

When I locate iPhoto in launchpad it has a circle with a line through it.

It says the version of iPhoto installed on this Mac is not compatible with MacOS High Sierra. Blah blah blah, download the latest version.

I clicked search the App Store and it says the item is not available. What’s up with this?

iPhoto has been replaced by "Photos". The version of iPhoto that you have can no longer be used with High Sierra and you will be unable to download an update to it from Apple. Suggest get to know and use "Photos" instead. Either that or an alternative photo application.

Ok, thanks.
Any idea what I should be looking for? I entered “photos” in the App Store and there’s all kinds of stuff. Which pretty little picture should I click on?

Photos is already installed on your Mac. Search for it in Spotlight or find it in Finder or Launchpad. It looks like the picture below.

Assuming you have an existing iPhoto library, you might want to read about migrating to Photos.

Dude! I’m an idiot. It’s been right in front of my face this whole time. I haven’t messed with photos or anything in quite some time, as you can probably tell. Got it up and running. Thanks.
