Keyboard covering up Messages?

I have a friend visiting who asked me about a problem he and his wife are having on their iPhones. They installed 11.0.3, and the problem appeared. In Messages, if they bring up the keyboard it sometimes covers up the bottom of the messages and the messages don't move up, but are hidden behind the keyboard. Sometimes they can drag the messages up and they will stay visible, but sometimes they drag them up and they go back down, hiding again behind the keyboard. I have not seen this on my iPhone, but I did see it on theirs.

Anybody else seeing this? As I said, it's 11.0.3 that seemed to bring the issue.

I have noticed this occasionally, on my iPhone 6, what iPhone are they using? Do they have all the app icons showing along the bottom of the scree? Maybe this has something to do with it, and if they remove those, do the messages become uncovered?

They both have the 6. Will try the removal of the apps. I've not seen it on my 7 or now on my new 8.
