chscag, you may be underestimating your wife's ability to handle it. My wife is definitely NOT tech savvy, but she understands to use the six digit code that comes on her phone to enter into the boxes when they appear. She sometimes get annoyed at having to do it, but understands it is for her own security. It's really that simple. Now, we do each have our own AppleID and use family sharing for shared software, but even so, she's never mucked up her account to the point where Apple got involved. Basically, if it doesn't work for her the first time, she stops and calls me as level 1 tech support. But those calls have significantly diminished as she has become more comfortable with it.

I guess I just don't understand why anyone would use terms like "escape the monster grips of Apples 2FA." Nor why people refer to being "forced" to use it, or as you said in post #15, "Anytime anything that involves 2FA, I avoid it." I'm just surprised at the negativity to Apple's attempt to protect our data and devices for us. What would the reaction be if there was no 2FA offered at all and all of our accounts at Apple got hacked and our files/pictures/backups/whatever at iCloud were stolen? Or we had our Macs locked up for ransom by someone hacking into iCloud and locking the device from there? The howls for Apple's head would be deafening. Apple is offering a relatively sound and easy mechanism to make us safer and yet we see people use terms like "monster grip," "forced," "avoid" and other such strong terms. I'm just surprised at it all. Maybe it's my military and classified work background that makes security like this seem "normal." I've handled, and been responsible for, some pretty highly classified data and crypto gear and the more security procedures in place the better I felt about it. Is Apple's 2FA implementation perfect? No, but it's better than nothing at all.

Oh, well, I guess it's "different strokes for different folks." I'm OK with Apple's 2FA and plan to keep it in place.

Hi Ian. Thank you for the advice.

I am not able to deactivate 2FA, but I did sign out on my other devices which are an iMac and iPhone. I managed to sign in succesfully to receiving an verification code but are still not able to sign in to my iCloud Account on my Mac Book Pro Ver.10.14
Any other possible solutions? Thx!

I'd suggest contacting Apple Customer Service for your area and get the problem sorted out.

I can't help otherwise and we avoid using their 2FA feature.
