A warm welcome to Mac-Forums.

Depends exactly what you mean:

For example, in Safari, if you Click on View (in the Menu Bar) and Choose "Hide Favourites Bar", it will hide it. I don't know if that's what you're after.

Bookmarks are not visible when a Safari window is open, however, so I'm not sure what you mean by "Hide" in that context. Unless you are referring to the Sidebar which can show Bookmarks. If that is your problem: 2 ways to hide it - (1) Click on Bookmarks and choose "Hide Bookmarks" or (2) Just under the Menu Bar, level with the red, amber and green dots, and to the right of them, is an icon (sort of like a window with a sidepiece) - click on that and the sidebar disappears (Click again & it reappears).

Any help?

I should have mentioned I have an iPad Air 2...sorry I don't think the above works on my iPad.

I would really like a way to hide sites, so if a family member looks at my iPad, I can have hidden sites without them going through my iPad or seeing the sites I bookmarked/favourited.

so if a family member looks at my iPad

Just logout when you are't using it, and no other user should be snooping around on your iPad anyway IMHO!! Family member or not, well, unless it's your parents who paid fort it all. ;)

@Steve

Sorry I wasn't able to help. I just naturally assumed you were talking about a Mac.

No, you can't hide bookmarks in Safari on the iPad.

As there is no way to hide these, you'll need to come up with some sort of non-technical solution. As to what that is will have to be up to you.

Just might do what you're wanting and I didn't think you were interested in doing any jailbreaking, if it's even still possible these days. ;)

Edit:
Here are some more google hits if you need:

Hey Patrick,

Good detective work. It may not be a total solution but sure does provide some sensible options. And congrats on passing the 5,000 posts;D

Thanks Ian, but I can't take credit for the solutions others have posted somewhere.

But they would be almost impossible to find without decent web search engines, and to be honest, I'm surprised by how many posters here seem to do so rather than doing a search on their subject question.

But some do when the existing answers are out of date or don't work, and for some reason, Apple programmers seem to like changing things or hiding some features lately, if they still even exist, and their builtin Help options are almost pathetic these days it seems.

Oh well, we seem to manage somehow… ;)
