Since updating to iOS 10.0.2 on my iPhone 6 my email alerts only work around 10% of the time. Most times i don't know i have mail until i actually open apple mail. My wife's iPhone and iPad are the same. We recently changed broadband providers but the problem is still there. Both broadband providers use yahoo for their mail services but we only access from apple mail. I have tried deleting mail accounts and reinstalling without success. Any ideas please?

How do you have the Mail settings configured? I presume you're set for polling, but you should check to validate that and also check to see what time interval you're using for checking for new mail. Your post says you're having a problem with notifications, but I'm wondering if the issue is actually with Mail downloading new messages in the first place.

I guess you are probably right. I have checked my configuration and all seems to be ok but since changing my broadband provider i have been using iCloud as my primary email address and now i notice when i go into settings on the iPhone the @ iCloud email address which is my primary email now is still highlighted but is a pale colour compared to the @me address. This is only an iOS problem, mail on my macs is working fine. My iCloud account still shows my account details as the email from my old broadband provider. I have tried changing it with apple ID but get a message saying i cannot change this primary email address.
