No contest - my Kindle app. I am an avid reader and will frequently run the battery dead and then switch to another device. Love that sync feature! I also read all kinds of news and forums but you asked for apps.

How do I use the iPad - check email, surf the web, read magazines, read books, play just a few games, use a couple of specific database programs, etc.

I virtually do all of my book reading on an iPad (don't believe that I've purchased a physical book in 2 years) - most of my books are bought on Amazon, SO, I'm w/ Lisa, i.e. Kindle app is a necessity for me. Dave :)

My favorite is "Blue Letter Bible" (BLB). A very nice Bible reader program that includes most all the popular Bible versions. And it's free. :)

I also like the kindle app a lot. I find it even better when paired with the app Snippefy which lets me review all my highlights. I like to keep quotes for future reference as there are some wonderful pearls of wisdom I've collected across various books.

GoodReader for me. I am also reading books, but PDFs in my case.

For Kindle reading I use a Paperwhite.

I am an investor. I invest in precious metals like Gold, Platinum, Silver etc. I got an app "Precious Metal Calculator Pro" which updates me about the metal prices. If you are investor too than you must try this app itz amazing app.

And thanks for sharing different apps I'll check out few of them.

For those of you who use public transit, I can't stress enough just how amazing Transit is. I've started using it and absolutely love its ability to track, in real time, where the closest bus/streetcar/subway is. I had been using Google Maps for public transit planning but I don't see a use for GM anymore (for public transit at least).

TuneIn. Live, streaming internet radio from all over the world. It's been my favorite iOS app for over 5 years, despite the fact they keep bloating it with new "features."

Time ago i bought an ipad mini and with it, Notability. It's a note taking app, you can do hand writing, insert pics, draw different things, etc. Sync notes between iOS devices via iCloud. I no longer ImageUploadedByMac Forums1436044560.836351.jpg use paper any more. I changed my paper notebook for the ipad+notability and my life changed. I have also my Notability notes synchronized with google drive, so even if I forget my ipad at home, i can still find my notes in google drive. Hands down, my best app on my ipad (AND my iphone 6 plus).

This has been the best purchase on my iPad. I am able to recreate music combinations that I have not heard since my High School Years.

Also, the company gave great support when I ran into an issue.:D

Zinio, this is an app for magazine reading and subscription. Enable you to preview content online and have an offline library of all your favourite magazines delivered automatically direct to your iPad.
This works so well for us living in a foreign country where many magazines are simply unavailable.
Initially you have to register online then you are prompted to download the app.

My favorite is Fantastical. I am a State Representative and I use the smartphone to keep track of all my appointments and to-do lists. I have tried many, but Fantastical is my current favorite.

I agree. I'm in NYC and I use it every day. I know exactly when my bus and train will arrive. It has never failed me.

Many good suggestions mentioned so far. I use Slack for inter-"office" communication with my team. I use Siri more than Fantastical these days, and Uber was very useful on a recent trip. I use Friendly and Hootsuite for social media, and Music a lot for tunes, either from the local library or Apple Music.
