Here is my problem:I'm having a hobby workshop (metal bldg) put up along side (20' away) my home. I know I can can burry a cat cable but don't fell like running about 125' of cable and drilling through a block wall. And will be on separate power source than the house wiring. With the bldg being all metal I figured wifi is out of the question.
Question: Is there another way for me to get internet access into that shop?

I'm afraid what you don't want to do would be the only way to do it. If this is going to be a permanent setup, wouldn't it be worth the initial outlay of work to run cable? Maybe hire someone to do it if needed.

Run your cables in "Innerduct". you can get it from Graybar, Anixter, etc. Don't forget to add a pull string for future cables.

Have you asked your internet provider for their suggestion?

Please backup. Everything has a life cycle, unexpected and warning free. Nothing will last as long as you want it to.

@ KennyC - Bob has a good point, i.e. are you getting your internet via cable, DSL, or satellite - each presents different solutions vs. putting in an underground CAT cable from your house - give us some more info, please. Dave

Jonathan, yea that's what I figured too. Yes this will be a permanent setup. I can do the work and have the cat cable. Just need to get an extra set of hands.

KennyK, thanks for that tip. I would have probably jut used sch 40 pic. Not familiar with interduct.

Bob, no I haven't been thinking about ditching at&t dal for spectrum cable.

Thanks RadDave and all for the replies. Looks like I'm getting my trenching shovel ready.

Ask the Charter Spectrum sales person to install a separate outlet in your workshop as part of the deal. I've dealt with Spectrum sales people and found that they are anxious to make a sale and will usually give out extra goodies that they don't ordinarily include with their installation. Right now I'm stuck with Frontier (Highway robbers without a gun!) but have been talking with Spectrum sales.

Give it a shot before you get your shovel out and start digging.
