I am running Mojave but I have just bought hallmark studio 2019 that says it is mojave compliant but it keeps dropping my WI FI signal, my Mac is only about 18inches from the modem and this is the only programme that does this any ideas what is causing this and is there a solution, can't hard wire my mac to the modem as I have an HP printer using ink programme and it needs to be run on WI FI.

What else is in the vicinity? WiFi can suffer from interference from other devices on the same or nearby frequencies. So a wireless home telephone, bluetooth devices, too many WiFi devices, etc., can cause WiFi to get spotty. And you CAN hardware your Mac to the router and use WiFI at the same time. I do it myself. The Mac gets two different IP addresses, one for WiFI, one for the Ethernet. Hallmark Studio 2019 seems to be a card printing software, so it is not what is "dropping" WiFi at all.

BTW, what Mac are you using, what is the brand/version of the WiFi router and what ISP are you using?

EDIT: Can a Mod move this thread to the right forum so that more people will see it?

You can wire your Mac to the router. Then you can use the Macs wifi to connect to the printer, two different things.

Sorry guys only realised I had posted in the wrong section have now posted in the right section with an apology for posting twice. But to answer MacInWin there is nothing else in the same room to interfere with the WI FI signal apart from the printer.

Now I'm totally befuddled. Posts are appearing and disappearing from this thread.

I had posted the suggestion to hardwire the printer to your Mac and trying to print from the Hallmark application that way. The objective was to verify that Hallmark didn't have print problems that make it look like WiFi issues.

How did you come to suspect WiFi? What symptoms did you see, messages did you get, etc? If only one application suffers from this, I think it tends to point to the application and not the WiFi in general.

Ok, I'm not understanding the issue here. "hallmark studio 2019" is software, correct? So what do you mean that the software "keeps dropping my wi-fi signal"? Do you mean that the program is causing your router to reset when it tries to connect to online resources? Or do you mean that it just can't access the internet while your other programs can?

Your printer doesn't care whether your Mac has a wireless or wired internet connection. The printer will still access the internet through the router. Just run an ethernet cable from the router to the Mac and disconnect it from the wireless network.

Jonathan, I don't think that's what the OP is trying to do. I think he's trying to print from the hallmark app and it's not printing, so the OP has assumed that WiFi is breaking. As you said, software normally doesn't break WiFi, so that's not it. I think we need to find out if the software will print properly at all, so hardwiring the printer and trying it will either eliminate the software or show that it is a bug in the software. And I don't think the OP wants or needs to attach the printer to the router unless the OP is looking to make it a network printer, which has not been stated. And from the misuse of the term "modem" instead of router, I suspect that rayben is not terribly technically savvy, either. So we need to do this one step at a time.

For Rayben, interference can come from other rooms, other floors. What is beside, above, below where the router and Mac sit?

Maybe some of these suggestions in this recent article would help solve the problem:

That doesn't really make too much sense as using Hallmark Studio 2019 for Mac and your HP printer are two completely separate things, and I doubt very much if they would both be used at the same time. Not normally anyway.

I'll hope he'll confirm that before we spend too much time on hypothetical solutions, because that's not at all what the original post said (though your guess may be right). He never mentioned anything about printing. He did mention an HP printer but only as an aside about his network setup because the printer needed wi-fi connectivity for the HP Instant Ink program.

The OP probably restarted their iMac, and all is well. Won't come back for any more help on this issue.

I still don't understand exactly what was happening, nor can I find any info on Google about this issue as you describe it, but glad you were able to resolve it.

But Patrick, the OP didn't have WiFi problems when running anything BUT the Hallmark software, according to his posts. So the troubleshooting in that article, while good general advice, didn't address the specific nature of the problem. Now if the OP had more general issues with WiFi, no matter what software was running, then those steps would be useful to troubleshoot. Just wish that piece had been named better. What they suggested were good ideas for ANY operating system, not just Mojave. And nothing in the list of items was unique to Mojave, either.

In any event, if the OP is happy with the wired solution, then the problem is sorted out.

OSX Daily is not an app, it's a website. And if this: How to Troubleshoot & Fix MacOS Mojave Wi-Fi Issues is what you think is what said apps are losing WiFI, it doesn't say that anywhere. What it does give are the usual troubleshooting suggestions for WiFi issues, regardless of macOS version.

It helps to use the correct terminology when trying to describe your problem. Avoids confusion.

This is a transcript of the email I received from OSX Daily. How to troubleshoot & fix MacOS Mojave wi-fi issues. Have you been experienceing wi-fi problems since installing MacOS Mojave 10.14 on a Mac?.While MacOS Mojave works great for most Mac users with compatible Macs(and even for many Macs that are unofficially able to run Mojave),a small number of MacOS Mojave users have discovered that wireless networking is having difficulties for them.Typically the Mojave wi-fi issues are that the connection has either failed ,drops frequently won't reliably connect to wi-fi, is unable to connect at all .or even that general wi-fi performance is suffering, and the symptoms appear to have arrived only after updating to MacOS Mojave. This troubleshooting guide Will iam to troubleshoot and resolve wi-fi problems and issues with MacOS Mojave.

That's not an email, it is a direct quote from the opening paragraph of the link I posted. I think you are either misinterpreting what is going on, or you are trolling. Either way, I'm done here. Good luck with it.

It certainly seems as if the OP has a bit of misunderstanding and confusion as to how computer things work and their terminology, and they may have even used the OSXdaily link I had posted and thought it was an email somehow.

Regardless, i wonder if they tried any of the suggestions and if the problem has been solved????
