I don't know if this is the right place to post this. I just purchased a new HP OfficeJet 5255 printer and everything works fine with my Mac 10.11.6. When I set it up on my Laptop running Win 10, there was an app called HP Smart App available Which I installed, but I can't find it on my Mac. I wrote the HP forum and they gave me an internet site where I could download it for the Mac. When I went on that site which was the APP Store, there was a message it is only available for Android and Apple iOS. When I wrote back to HP I was told "Did you know your Mac machine also uses same or similar Apple iOS ?" Does this mean it work work on my computer? I am a little confused.

No, it will NOT.
And you probably don't need it what it might do anyway.

Your Mac is running macOS version 10.11.6.

"macOS" is the same as "Mac OS X" and is a different OS from iOS or Android OS.

(OS = Operating System)

Actually Patrick, it might be useful for her if she has an iPhone or iPad and wishes to use the HP Smart app to do wireless printing to her new printer. The answer she received from HP was a bit confusing and they should have instead directed her to the following HP Support Document which explains how she could use the app.

That's sure a big understatement, and maybe they could have added this if Helen has an iOS device as that HP AIO supports Apple's AirPrint, with more info here:
HP Printers - Printing with Apple AirPrint (iOS)

I'm also guessing that the normal HP AIO Mac OS X software install will include all the same features the HP Smart App would provide, but in different places.
Like in the Print/Scan queue window perhaps, that may also include an option to the HP Utilities(ink level, cleaning etc.)

PS: I'm a bit disappointed to have read such a reply from HP and I would have expected better. But welcome to the minimalist world I guess.

I'm leaving everything alone. I don't use my cell phone for internet or eprint so I don't print anything from my phone. I'm usually home so I use my computer. Some of the HP employees aren't too bright. Thanks for all your help.
