Not sure where to post this.

All of a sudden I cannot open PDF documents attached to Mac Mail. When I click on the document I get the message

The file “*******.pdf” could not be opened. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize.

When I look at the document in mail on my iPhone it opens with no problem.

Any suggestions will be appreciated

Can you save the document to a folder and then in Finder go to that folder and hit SPACE to preview the file. If that shows you the contents, you should be able to double-click to open up Preview to show the document. If Preview does complain, you might want to grab a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader (free version) and see if it will open the PDF or give you more informative answer as to why the file is corrupt.

The mystery continues. I tried again and it opened. Will let you know if the problem continues. Thank you for your reply

I still had the same issue. I saved the documents to desktop, then opened Adobe Reader and it couldn't find/open files. Adobe Acrobat was updated, and now all PDF and any files I download, whether from apple or other source will not open. I still need help.

Vikkey:

Try this: Right click on a PDF file that's on your desktop or anywhere else, then select open with, then choose "Preview" or the Adobe Reader, afterward choose open all with. Preview is probably the better choice since it's native to macOS, however, the Adobe Reader will also work.

Use Chrome! Just dropping the PDF file into an enjoy Chrome tab will open the PDF.

Hey neat, I never knew Chrome used "enjoy tabs" and I'll have to give it a try.

It sounds like fun. :Mischievous:
