Since updating all my devices last week, I am always getting the popup/window whenever I connect my iPhone and/or iPad to backup, or sync with iTunes. I did install the iOS 10.3.1 updated for both devices last night and the issue is still there, is there a way to turn this off? Screen Shot 2017-04-04 at 11.58.03 AM.png

So what happens if you click on Network Preferences? The only thing I can think of is that it might have something to do with your iPhone acting as a hotspot???? Do you have your iPhone setup as a hotspot and is it turned on? That is my best guess.

I get the Network Preferences options window. I did log in to my admin account and looked in Network Preferences there. My iPad showed up as an option in the sidebar, is I deleted it. But the iPhone was not listed, and I still get the popup/window when I connect it. I did also an NVRAM and SMC resets, since I started this thread. Networkpane.png

That is so weird. I tried turning on the hotspot on my iPhone just to see what happened. My iPhone appeared in the network settings but no dialog box popped up. I did notice when it appeared in network settings there was a check box that allowed me to set it to ignore and not use the iPhone's hotspot. It was checked by default.

Is your iPhone's hotspot on? If so try turning it off and see what happens.

I did try googling and found the message relates to the iPhone's hotspot.

Hi Lisa, Thanks for the help. I just looked in my iPhone Settings, and Personal Hotspot is off. I am going to try a hard rest now, and later on a will connect to my Mac Mini and see if the issue is still there.

On your Mac, is your account a Regular user or an admin user? My account is regular, and the iPad did not show in Networking, but did show in my admin account.

I will update after I test connecting to my mini.

On my mac I am using an admin account. I have not tried to backup my iPad to my Mac as I really have nothing on it of value. I use it as an e-reader mainly.

Hopefully a hard reset will work.

OK, all set. I just connected it to my mini, the popup came up, and it didn't show in Network Preferences for my standard user account. So I restarted my mini and went into my admin account, and it did appear in Network. I deleted it from there, then restarted and now the popup does not show when I plug it in.

Thanks for your help Lisa.

The following worked for me. Levi’s the man!

Levi
With the iPhone plugged in, can you select the ( + ) plus symbol for me and see if iPhone USB is an available option.

Jay
Where’s the (+) plus symbol?

Jay
Ah, in Network, okay.

Levi
OK!

Levi
Hit the iPhone usb option in that drop down for me there.

Levi
Then hit the little gear icon next to the minus sign ( - ) and the gear icon will have a “make this service inactive”.

Levi
Hit create for me.

Levi
Then select the usb option and hit the gear icon and make it inactive.

Levi
Then try to test the issue out for me.

Jay
Okay, I just did that.

Levi
OK, now turn off hotspot on your phone for me and reconnect the iPhone and see if the issue persists.

Jay
Yay! No message came up.

Jay
You’ve done it.

Jay
??

Levi
Awesome!

Levi
Have a wonderful rest of your day!
