Is there a way to turn off just the wireless portion of my Airport Extreme and let the wired connections stay active?

I have an older AE with one hard-wired out connection. So I'm not wanting/needing to broadcast wireless all the time.

The AE Utility does not appear to have the option.

Also is there a "Guest" option that I am missing? I don't see that either.

had it so how old of an AE are we talking about?

It is about six years old or so. The older mushroom style G version. There is an option to create a "Closed" network but not for just turning the broadcast off if wanted.

I'm wondering the same thing. I have an Airport Extreme and iMac hard wired. When I click "Turn Airport Off", it doesn't do anything. The wireless network is still active. How can I kill the wifi?

Ok I found an option that might work for me. What I'm wanting to do is let only a Mac Mini use the Airport Extreme wireless router.

So I found an option in the Airport Utility and it states:

"Choose Local (available on some models the AirPort Base Station), Timed Access, or RADIUS from the MAC Address Access Control pop-up menu, depending on the wireless device you’re setting up.

• If you choose Local, click the Add (+) button and enter the AirPort ID or Wireless MAC address for the client you want to access the network, and then click This Computer to add the AirPort ID of the computer you’re using. Use the Description field to enter the name of the computer in the list."

So I would guess now that I need to find the wireless MAC address or Airport ID for my Mac Mini and set it up to use this Local feature. Where would I find either the MAC address or Airport ID?

Ok. I saw that but did not know that it was the MAC. The Help instructions only said use the MAC Address, not the "ethernet id". I know for those of you who up on all this stuff you understand. But you'd think that the writers of the Help feature would think about those that don't know.
