Just got a new e2000 to replace my older Airport Extreme.

However, now my iMac will not connect to the internet after waking from sleep.

I get wireless from the e2000 and don't have a problem there, just my hard wired iMac. I can connect to the internet when the IP is 192.xxx.x.x (the routers IP), but after my iMac wakes it is changed to the Modems IP of 10.xx.x.x.

It never did this with the Airport Extreme. I would assume that it might be a router problem. Any ideas?

Did you have the AE set up in bridge mode or was it set to use in DMZ with a modem?

Not sure. I have the Cisco E2000 wired directly to the iMac. Pretty much auto setup. I'll have to look into what you mean by AE and DMZ. Out of the E2000 I have it hooked up to my old AirPort Extreme and that is putting out signal as well for an older Mac Mini on G.

I'm on the stock Cisco firmware. I might try Tomato later once I get the hang of this better. It is my understanding that Tomato will allow me more control on things like the E2000 only putting out N at 2.4ghz for the Xbox. And then my old Airport will just put out G for the Mac Mini in the other room.

I should also say that I've got a PC I built getting wireless from the E2000 and I'm not having a problem with that signal at all either. Just the hard wired iMac.

Try bridge mode on the AE sounds like you have 2 items trying to assign ip's.

You mind me asking how that is done. I don't even understand what you mean by AE. It seems to be the Macs that are having the problem. I just had a similar problem on the Mac Mini just a minuite ago. I thought it was working but I guess not.

Wired:
iMac to E2000

Wireless:
Mac Mini
PC
Xbox

From cable modem to E2000 from E2000 to Airport Extreme

So I am assuming that the E2000 is putting out an N signal
And that the Airport is putting out G. But I'm not sure exactly how to tell or set that up. I was told on a different forum that I'd need Tomato or something like that to really set things up.

AE = Airport Extrem
Bridge Mode would be a setting in the AE so its basically a hybrid wireless router and not
handing out ip's but instead getting them from your modem. !92.xxx.x.x sounds like the modem issueing an ip and 10.xx.x.x sounds like what your AE is trying to hand out you
can use one or the other not both.

Ok, I sort of understand. I went looking for Bridge mode within my Network program on my iMac. But I think I'm going to have to find my documentation on the AE and find out how to enter the AE program via my web browser.

To access the Airport Extreme you need Airport Utility the disc that came with
it if you do not have it download it from Apple's website and the Bridge Mode
is in the setup for Airport Extreme not the iMac
Once you bring up Airport Utility double click the AE icon
choose internet then choose internet connection then choose
connection sharing and select off(bridge mode).

Thanks downloading that now and will give that a shot. Will I still be able to broadcast AE in G and the new E2000 in N if bridged?

Edit: Ok found that and trying it out. Let you know tomorrow. Thanks for your help!!!

osxx,

So far so good. It has woke up from sleep about 4 times now and no problems and all connections are working. Before it never would. Thanks again for your help.
