Can you provide a screen shot (shift + command + 4, spacebar) of your "About This Mac? You can find it under the Apple icon in the upper left corner, then select "About This Mac". You can use Preview (in Applications) to cross out the serial number, and anything else you don't want to share.

Personally I place great faith in Image Capture.
+1!! And as underrated as Image Capture often is, I really wish Apple could add a "create new folder" when it is open rather than having to do it before one opens the app. Quite a basic Mac app omission in my opinion.:-(

Yes, it seems so.

Thank you for the suggestion.
Sorry, but I seem to have lost the thread as to what post your comment here refers to.

It takes me quite a while to wake up sometimes. :Smirk:

That's pretty easy to do, Patrick. Open Image Capture and at the bottom where the destination is set, scroll that list all the way to the bottom and "Other" will be the last option. Select that and Finder will open with a button for "New Folder" there.

Thanks for the suggestion Jake, but I guess that option comes with a later OS X version as there's no such "destination" option with Image Capture in my Mavericks version. But I'll sure use it if and when I ever update to using a later OS X that has the option. As of now it's just a habit to do so, so no big deal really, except for when I forget to do so.;P

So you don't have this at the bottom of the image capture window?

Nope, not even close. Basically nothing there.

The only thing close is if using a scanner, there is then a Scan to: option and > then Other > then finally "New Folder".

Yeah, it's only there if a camera device is attached (or a card with images attached). Did you try it with your iPhone attached?

Wow!!! What a difference that makes, and I don't think I have actually used Image Capture in Mavericks on this iMac and the last time would have been using Snow Leopard.

Quite a difference!! Thanks Jake.

This is how I transfer:

Plug in my Targus card reader to the USB port on the back of the computer.
Insert my CF card into said card reader.
Transfer images by holding "shift" key and highlighting all the images I wish to transfer from the card onto the computer.
Drag the chosen images and put into a folder on my desktop.
That is when the circle w/ Xs show up.
Wait until the transfer is complete.
Drag card icon to the trash.
Remove card when icon is gone.

Yes, the circle Xs and bars are still there.

I am not using any software or programs to transfer the images.
there is many software you can use one of them that will help you

I have seen similar issues using manual methods to transfer images from SD cards to a Mac computer. I suggest you try using one of the native apps made for the purpose such as Image Capture. Obviously many people would use the Photos app but if you want more control over the images Image Capture is probably the best option.

Errr...hmmmm... yes... sometimes. But usually providing some specific software application names or examples would be a lot more constructive in a reply.
