Hello all,

Im looking for a program to use on my macbook that can easily design CD covers / Booklets which is free.
I found this one on the apple site but once downloaded tells you that it costs!

Apple - Downloads - Productivity Tools - CD and DVD Label Maker for Mac

Anyone know any free ones to download??

Thanks
Cristiano

Welcome to our forums.

Do you have "Pages" on your Mac? There are free templates for Pages that include CD covers and the Avery Label maker template is likewise free. There are also free templates for Microsoft Word that can do the same thing but Microsoft Word is not free whereas Pages is.

Hi Cristiano - welcome to the forum! :) First, I agree w/ Chscag about potential templates, etc. that might be used in some of your other apps, such as mentioned. Second, give us a better idea on your needs, e.g. do you want to print labels for putting on the optical media and/or do you want to make jewel box labels - some apps/programs that I've used in the past (PCs a while back and now Mac laptops) will do one or both.

My needs now are minimal and confined to putting printable labels on my burned CD-Rs (MP3 DLs) and DVD-Rs w/ my Canon Pixma ink jet printer which has a special tray to load the 'printable' disc - use their rather clunky software, My Image Garden (pic below) but works for my needs - SO, another source if you have a printer that can put labels directly on CDs and/or make attachable paper ones is their proprietary software.

Finally, I just looked in the App Store, and reviewed the first 3 items - cost $10 to $25 - reviews were quite mixed w/ some major 'thumbs down' comments - looks like 'hit or miss' w/ these apps, even if there is an upfront cost - you can do some googling (see second pic) - unless someone comes along w/ a great specific recommendation, you likely will have to download either 'free' or 'trial' apps and try them yourself - sorry that I cannot be of much more help, but must admit that when I did more of this task on PCs, much more software was available and the programs that I used were good to excellent.
