Can anybody recommend an easy app to draw the pictures below with a black outline? No fancy colors and fills etc because I'm "only" designing 2 trophies that I'll get made. An easy app that can be used on imac or macbook that is preferrably free :)

Thanks VERY much! :)

The "free" part makes the choice a bit more difficult. However, you can try "SketchUp" which is probably overkill for what you want to do, or there is "GIMP", again, probably overkill. I'm sure there are more which a Google search may bring up.

For simple drawing programs try this:

Thanks very much for the suggestions :)

I can see 2 of the 6 in the link would be worth trying :) Thanks

Do you know of any apps that require payment that do exactly what I'd like? I'd love to know in case any of the above aren't suitable.

Thanks! :)

Mac's own Photos has Markup which will do the job. Screen Shot 2018-08-23 at 18.38.17.png

Depends how steady a hand you have but that would be a factor with any application. Do a very light sketch, photograph it and go over with whatever size brush stroke/colour you need. I did a rough crown on a photo of my dog to demonstrate. I must emphasise he is NOT allowed on the sofa, never mind that silk cushion!!

I thought so! I know my dogs...and that expression definitely looks like the "guilty-dog-look"! lol

Thanks b.s.h. for the reply :) In general I don't understand how altering photos is relevant to what I want to do with the sketches? ...... but I'd still love to know WHY you suggested what you did in case it is useful .....

Mac's own Photos has Markup which will do the job.

I don't have any photos ...... just sketches that I'd like to create proper images, done with accurate measurements etc so the trophy maker can actually make the trophies exactly how I've designed them.......... hence markup isn't relevant

Do a very light sketch, photograph it and go over with whatever size brush stroke/colour you need. I

As above .... I can't see how it's relevant?

Thanks everyone :)

I basically need to be able to draw a black/white outline with perfect measurements of all parts of it etc of the images that I posted. They are for 2 trophies that I've designed that I'd like to get made by a professional trophy maker. FWIW .... one of the trophies is to celebrate me just passing the 20 year anniversary of being cancer free!!

Hopefully this explains the type of plain, basic image that I'd like to create. :) PS - love your dog ..... he looks so adorable!! :)

Thanks

I think, what Sue meant, was for you to draw the sketch, or your images from your first post, then use the markup tool to draw everything out the way you want it.

What type of file type do you need?

OK Bob - I THINK I understand!! and it makes perfect sense ......

Basically you're saying design the trophy by hand, then trace over it with a digital pen, and what you draw will be transferred by a pgm into a digital image that can be used. Have I understood correctly?

I haven't designed it properly by hand but I know what I'd like it to look like .... I was always just going to be doing it logically and systematically with a program.

eg. for the 1st image I was going to get the pgm to draw me the shape of the "exploding firework" and then I'd get it to draw me a star, and I'd just make the star bigger/smaller to suit the image. I'd make sure the 'exploding fireworks' where on starting from ~ the same place, then I'd put on a rectangular base from the pgm's shapes .... just make it bigger/smaller to suit the image.

Can you see what I"m referring to? I purposefully tried to base it on some easy, preset-type of shapes so it would be easier to design.

Anyway, I've strayed off the topic!! Thanks very much for the suggestions! I'll try what you've recommended. I won't look into the Markup because my pattern isn't correct to start with! :)

Thanks Bob and Sue for the last suggestions .... much appreciated! :)

Thank you for elucidation. Yes, that's exactly what I meant.
