Does anyone have a SIMPLE application that can be used to put labels/text on photos, etc. using OS 10.13.6? Some of the apps I have seen are overly complicated/confusing for very simple actions like putting labels/captions on graphics/photos etc.

Thanx in advance for any reply!

Well, Ian has already given you one great option and the macOS Photos app has really improved recently - another good choice is the built-in app 'Preview' - simply open your pic(s) and click on the 'Markup' icon which will open a toolbar w/ plenty of choices, e.g. images can be cropped and resized, text is easily added (fonts can be changed along w/ character size and color), objects can be added such as squares, circles, lines and arrows; also imaging editing is possible but limited (the prism icon) - see the screen captures below for examples. Dave :)

Hi Ian - hope all is going well w/ you and family in 2018 - can't believe we're into August already! Yep I was back on some other forums in the first part of the year, mainly related to woodworking - did a number of projects for the Unitarian Fellowship, then we cleaned out our son's old room to reconvert back into a guest bedroom, built a number of end tables - still not done but looking better. Dave :)
