I'm going by what he said above that he has to put the card stock in lengthwise in order for it to work correctly with Adobe Illustrator. Epson printers can be fussy. Did you notice what I wrote above about my NX 420 refusing to print on three hole paper sheets? I use a lot of three hole sheets for booklets that we make and place in cheap three ring binders and always have to switch to my HP LaserJet to print on them.

Hmmm… not really, but I'd bet that you could pick up a three-hole punch from an office supply store for a pretty cheap price eh?? :Smirk:

LOL, when we're printing multi-page booklets, remind me to invite you here to do the three hole punching. I'll even supply the three hole punch. ;D

I'm sorry Charlie, but I won't be able to make it but maybe one of these could help with the job:
Create Booklet or BookletCreator via:
https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/21068/create-booklet

I used a similar utility way back in System 9 days. It had staple and hole punch markers and auto gutter and margin spacing. It worked well. And I assume theist would do a similar helpful thing.

PS: Don't forget to set your clocks ahead for tomorrow. :Smirk:

So to be clear here, I’m completely lost. I am selecting 5x7 when I’m printing from PDF now, I have placed the 5x7 card into my printer vertically, my printer screen also asks me the select the size that has been inserted to which I’m selecting 5x7, however the print still comes out wrong?

Try posting your dilemma on the Epson help page. There's something very wrong when the preview shows correct placement but the printing is haywire.

@Big Dave
Thanks, however their website doesn't seem to be much help for this type of issue either.

Anything here that might help?:
How to Print on Cardstock
https://www.lcipaper.com/kb/how-to-print-cardstock-tips.html

Or even here?:
https://www.macworld.com/article/31...-custom-greeting-cards-in-photos-for-mac.html

Is the screenshot in your earlier #2 post what you are seeing and having problems with?
If not, could you post what you are seeing????

PS:
It may be easier and save yourself a lot of frustration and aggravation and just take your needed graphic data (thumb drive or email etc.) to a local print shop and have them run off the number of copies you need on their 5 x 7 card stock.

Amazingly cheap usually and even better if they have a sale going. At least in our area here.

Thanks Patrick, appreciate the further response.

Will check out the articles. The difficulty I will have is it’s various designs that I want to print and not just the one so therefore I wanted to print my own rather than elsewhere.

OK, but just curious and my apologies if I missed it, but do any of the graphics you want to use work and print properly when printed on normal "letter" size paper??

So you mean just select ‘letter’ as the size when printing?

Why not try both??

It seems you're in a trouble shooting mode so more results info will help with the diagnose I would think.

So....having read this article, I gave it a go.

http://support.epson-europe.com/onlineguides/en/spr2880/html/vari_4.htm

Guess what….still didn't work :(

I wonder if that article only applies to their Epson Stylus PHOTO R2880 printer???

BTW: Have you tried setting up a new document/project and make sure to do the "Page Setup" first and before you start working on it.

Some software used to have such a quirk and maybe that's a problem with the app you're using.

And BTW: In such cases, as I recall, changing the page setup later would not work properly. Just a thought… ;D

I came across this but I'm not sure it would be a complete fix, especially when printing to 5 x 7 pre-scored card stock:
Reposition artwork on the page

The preview image in the Print dialog box shows you where artwork will be printed on the page.

Choose File > Print.
Do one of the following:
Drag the artwork in the preview image at the lower left corner of the dialog box.

Click a square or arrow on the Placement icon to specify the origin point for aligning the artwork in relation to the page. Enter values for Origin X and Origin Y to fine-tune the position of the artwork.

Tip: To move the printable area directly on the artboard, drag in the illustration window with the Print Tiling tool. As you drag, the Print Tiling tool responds as if you were moving the printable area from its lower left corner. You can move the printable area anywhere on the artboard; however, any part of a page that extends past the printable area boundary is not printed.

Hey Patrick:

Seems to me that our OP is going thru all sorts of gyrations to get those greeting cards to work. I would seriously consider using another program, although admittedly I don't know anything about Adobe Illustrator. I usually use my iStudio Publisher app to do bulletins and other things. And back in the days of Windows (back in the dark ages) I used MS Publisher. Anyway, those programs have templates for greeting cards that work real well with card stock.

Also, I believe Pages has several nice templates for greeting cards although I'm not certain if they are for card stock. But I suppose you could adapt or change the template to work for the card stock. Next time I'm in our Staples Store I might pick up some Avery greeting card stock and see If I can use it with my Epson printer.

I agree and I thought I had suggested doing just that.

I do know that Adobe an I don't get along very well together and I think their only app I use sometimes is their "PDF Reader" app.

What I/we don't know here is whether the problem is with: Adobe (and their software), the Mac's software, the printer or some PEBKAC problem. :Grimmace:

BTW: One can just cut some normal letter size paper to the 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" half-fold greeting card size to try and save buying the real stuff just to try.

Anyway, there are sure other options to try as well as proper templates to maybe download and instructions on the web.

I don't see the old Avery stock numbers in my old Pages.apps ('09 and 5.?) in page setup as the good old AppleWorks has. :[
That would make things so much easier and I'll have to go looking as to why they aren't. At least in Mavericks and I'll have to check my El Cap'n and Sierra and see if things improved. But it seems that the fine sizing adjustments and margins is just a generalized comment and no definitive sizing provided.

Or maybe one has to add specific templates or something to get precise sizing…???

I don't think my old Avery Design Pro.app works after SL 10.6.x. It was a great app for use with their label/card etc stock.

So....I'm back again, still not given up! Have since tried setting up the Page Setup to the exact size required and adjusting the settings on the printer, but STILL having the same problem, with the same issues!

Have tried printing on so many occasions, however it simply will not print the size requested!

Good for you, but annoying that things aren't working properly for you. My sympathies with your frustrations.

Have you tried using different applications?

Have you tried starting using a new file rather than trying to get the old one to print properly?

Could you post a screen shot here of the results you are getting???? Maybe it would help figure out what the problem might be.

So, just to confirm I have tried printing from both AI and PDF and having the same results from both.

I have also tried printing different files also, but same problem every time.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to screenshot anything at the moment as I'm in the office at work.
