Seems to me that our OP is going thru all sorts of gyrations to get those greeting cards to work. I would seriously consider using another program, although admittedly I don't know anything about Adobe Illustrator.
I agree and I thought I had suggested doing just that.
I do know that Adobe an I don't get along very well together and I think their only app I use sometimes is their "PDF Reader" app.
What I/we don't know here is whether the problem is with: Adobe (and their software), the Mac's software, the printer or some PEBKAC problem.
BTW: One can just cut some normal letter size paper to the 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" half-fold greeting card size to try and save buying the real stuff just to try.
Anyway, there are sure other options to try as well as proper templates to maybe download and instructions on the web.
I don't see the old Avery stock numbers in my old Pages.apps ('09 and 5.?) in page setup as the good old AppleWorks has.
That would make things so much easier and I'll have to go looking as to why they aren't. At least in Mavericks and I'll have to check my El Cap'n and Sierra and see if things improved. But it seems that the fine sizing adjustments and margins is just a generalized comment and no definitive sizing provided.
Or maybe one has to add specific templates or something to get precise sizing…???
I don't think my old Avery
Design Pro.app works after SL 10.6.x. It was a great app for use with their label/card etc stock.
