    SD Card Reader Needed
Need to purchase an SD card reader for my 2016 MBP with thunderbolt 3 ports. Can anyone recommend a good reliable reader. Already own a dongle if that helps on recommendations.
Also, my daughters 2012 MBP is reaching its end. Planning on giving her my MBP and considering purchasing a new one for myself. In ranking MBP's, where/how does this model rank. I bought this used in 2018 in excellent condition from Experimax for I believe $800.

Have you tried doing a Google search on your needs: "SD card reader for my 2016 MBP with thunderbolt 3 port"?:
SD card reader for my 2016 MBP with thunderbolt 3 port - Google Search

There seems to be a lot of information and choices included.

WW4B, did you want a multi card reader or just a single?
Also all Thunderbolt 3 cables work as USB-C cables so if you search for Thunderbolt 3 connection SD card readers you may wonder why so many results are for USB-C. They are unlike Thunderbolt 2 interchangeable.

So good USB-C micro card readers are plentiful and will be compatible with a new MBP if you decide to upgrade.
I would suggest you get one on a short cable, they don't put the same stress on the ports as the direct plug in types and if you are going to update get a multi port device like this Robot Check

I use a USBC SD and micro SD card reader made by Anker. It's done what it has to, and seems really well made finished in space grey.
