How do I get the £ sign

Hi,

I have only had the iMac for a few weeks, having got fed up with Windows problems.

When I press "shift" and 3, I get #, if I press "alt" and 3, I get £.

Obviously these are wrong way round. The "shift" 3 should produce the £ sign.

I have change the language to English (UK). I have tried lots of iMacs on display in shops and nearly all have the same problem. I have seen a couple that are correct.

I would very much appreciate a solution to this problem.

The quickest way to find out how to type a pound sign is to do a Google search!

But other than that...just hit the option + 3 keys (no plus sign).

shift 3 shound produce a pound sign £ - there you go

You can select British from the input sources in Language and text preferences

if you have a union jack in the menu bat then shift 3 should work
