    itunes question
Will be getting my first mac soon...am familiar with macs, but never owned one myself.

First thing I want to do when I get it is completely remove itunes, as i want absolutely NOTHING to do with this program...i don't want to get into the reasons why and go back and forth with this, the end result will be the same...I'll never use that program for any reason, ever, and already have some other music player alternatives planned.

My question is, though, is there ever a reason someone NEEDS to have this program? Can I remove it and go on happily on my mac? Or, are there actually scenarios where mac users MUST have itunes?

If not, I'll be sure to remove it and be on my way.

    Thanks for any info!

If you have an iPhone, you need iTunes to update your iPhone. You can't use iPhoto, iMovie etc. to do this. If you don't have an iPhone, I'm pretty sure there is no other reason you would absolutely need iTunes. Good luck.

Honestly, I would just use Monolingual on it to save some space, keep iTunes on the computer and just not use it. You may not need it now, but something may come along; a friend with an iPhone might need to plug in, update or whatever. You never know, and 60 MB isn't really going to break the bank when you've got a 500GB hard drive.
