    AVAST....good or bad?
I am running Malwarebytes and AVG AntiVirus on my 2018 Mac Book Air. I have heard that AVAST is better than Malwarebytes. Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations concerning AVAST or what I am running on my Mac? Thanks everyone. I have been the victim of identity theft and want to lock down this thing as much as possible without going overboard.

None of these are going to help you with identity theft, don't fall for the marketing. At the end of the day identity theft happens with the most basic of phishing emails where you end up entering your information on a malicious site without knowing about it. Be diligent about where you enter your info, site that should be secure and so on.

All true, and Thank You for the above. How about the free version of AVAST? Is it ok to load and run? Thanks RazOrEdge

There are no viruses for Macs, so running an antivirus software that's always scanning your stuff is a waste of resources. But, its your machine so you can run whatever you want.

As noted, AV software will not help with identity theft. You might want to look at identity theft protection.

Not good or bad, just unnecessary, not to mention CPU expenditure if any of these apps run in the background which most do.
I used to be conceited but now I'm perfect.
