I bet you didn't picture 100+ kids jumping and singing to it - that was the problem!

I didn't say it was my preferred choice - just what I last heard and is now stuck in my head. Hummm... May try your method of washing my ears out...

That's in the queue for me as well. Just finished her rendition of Baby What You Want Me To Do. At the moment it's her rendition of Come To Mama.

Thanks for that link. I'd forgotten just how good her voice could sound. From there a few quick mouse clicks led me to her and Bonnie Raitt performing Angel From Montgomery at Farm Aid circa 1985.

Saw Bonnie in concert just a couple years ago - her voice is still mesmerizing today.

Talking mesmerising, I'm listening to Janis Joplin ~ Piece of My Heart . . From her 'Anthology' Album.

I think she is Mesmerising anyway.

Excellent choice. There's something very raw, in a good way, about her voice.

I'm also listening to some of Cyndi Lauper's recent songs. I find that I'm much more impressed by her current voice than when she was doing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun".

Very true. Its why still now, that she is selling albums, because no matter how far back she passed away, her voice doesn't age at all, and still hits the spot with the youth of today.

As the Cyndi, she is a lot more mature now, and agree her voice is more suited to her age now than back in the 80's.

It wasn't so much that I thought her voice was bad then as much as that song didn't show what her voice could do. I also got tired of the song -- mostly because like many songs of that era it was played way too much.

I became aware of the difference in her voice when she appeared in a couple of episodes of the show Bones and sang one or two songs in that show.

Here's an example of one of the episode's she appeared in. Cyndi Lauper's rendition of At Last. Not Etta James but not bad either.

Oh, with Jeff Beck at a 2010 concert honoring Les Paul on what would have been his 95th birthday.
Bet you can't listen to only one song.

And an interview related to the concert worth a read to guitar fans...
