My mother-in-law has not had any recurrence of MM since her stem cell transplant 10 years ago at Johns Hopkins. As far as I'm concerned, it's a miracle. It wasn't an easy process to undergo by any means, but the result has been amazing, all things considered.
10 years! Wow. If I get anywhere near that I'll be happy.

My bloods continue to be good and the myeloma is still dormant which is a relief :-)
Looks like your 4 year anniversary is just around the corner! How are you doing?

Oh Nick, I am so sorry to hear your bad news. I have had prostate cancer so understand a little of what you are going through. Like others I will include you in my prayers and hope that this difficult time passes quickly for you and that you make a successful recovery.

    Guys:

The thread is two years old. Nice of you to respond to "nickyr" as I'm sure he appreciates it, but please pay attention to thread dates before responding.

I think I can see how this happens, someone posts on an old thread, I get an email notification, clicking on it takes me to the first post but the rest of the pages take a while to load. In the meantime I post and find I've posted to a 4 year old thread. Ah well, just have to be more careful but the message remains the same. Congratulations on your nearly four years of remission.

    Thanks Tomos :-)

Is that to the west, east or north?

Anyway - it's time for an update. I'm now nearly 4 years post stem-cell transplant (on 9 July). My last set of blood tests though revealed an increase in my para-proteins which may be an indication that the effects of the SCT are wearing out and therefore that I'll relapse in the not too distant future.

My consultant is happy that the SCT has lasted this long though.

I don't think that I could go through another SCT though, or go through the stresses and rigours of another drug trial.

    Que sera........

Prayers you get at least another 4 good years
I've always wanted to be smart, handsome and modest. But, I guess I'll have to be satisfied with two out of three . . .
