    Apple Magic Trackpad
I have an old Apple Magic Trackpad that just stopped working for no reason. New batteries didn't improve the situation.

    Looks like this:

Is there a re-set on these? Or some way to fix it?

    Thanks.

If new batteries then pressing the right side button to turn it on did not work it might be dead.

Have you tried another Bluetooth device to make sure it is not the computer. Also look to see if it shows up in the Bluetooth connections in System Pref. It may need re-pairing.

    First try what Lisa suggested.

If it's the original Magic Trackpad, it may be quite old and probably has failed. There's no way that I know of how to reset or repair them. The new ones (Magic Trackpad 2) are quite expensive unless you can pick one up on sale somewhere.

After inserting new batteries, if you quickly click the power button does a green led light up on top? You should be able to hold the power button down for a while to put it into Pairing mode and connect it back to the Mac.

@Lisa: Ooh, you're good. Very good.

I pulled down the Bluetooth menu and clicked "Connect," and the trackpad lit right up.

    1,000 thanks.

I clicked the Thumbs Up icon. Is something supposed to happen? Maybe confetti fall from the sky?

A little sheet/dalog should pop up with agree/disagree buttons and a box to add a comment if you want to do so.

    This is what I'm getting:

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to lclev."

Did I do this right, or did I screw it up?

Yes, you did it right. Unfortunately you will have to give reputation to others, before you can give more to Lisa.

I wonder what the reason is for such a policy and it seems to defeat the credit being given where it was deemed to be deserved. Seems rather strange to me... but the Green-Credit-Bullets are already as full as they're going get it seems, so what's the point...???

Yeah, I would think the software would be smart enough to know the difference, between a new user, and a veteran user. Someone that has been a member here for 10 years, should have the capability to give rep points to whoever deserves it as often as they deserve it.

I just took care of it. Moderators can override the Rep giving.

Frankly, I don't see why member "Marrk" as a new member could not give rep. Maybe something we will have to look at in the future.
