Dont know what part of Aust you are from, but im in the middle of nowhere in WA and im getting 15MB Down, and i as well have a LG but 47" 7600 3D LED LCD HDTV TV and i connect my MBP via HDMI to Thunderbolt and all i need to do is select the HDMI from the Input menu on my TV and the Mac does the rest, and now i get Full HD Mac Desktop on my 47". Under the Mac TV Options i can select Mirror or 2nd display and im right to go
Dont forget to use the Reputation System if someone has helped you out !!!
