The current version of Burn.app is available directly from the developers from here:
    Burn - Home

User comments and some optional software (I don't know anything about them) can be found here:
    https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/21992/burn

My version is in fact 2.5.1, so presumably no problems.

    Thanks. David

Okay, David. But it was strange that you were warned that "Burn" would need to be updated?

I've just checked and version 2.5.1 is shown as 64 bit on my iMac - although I don't actually use it much because some of my needs are better met by Roxio Toast Titanium.

Ian, what version of Toast are you using and how do you find it??

I didn't realize I actually had a later (to me) version in my Mavericks applications and it says I'm up to date with:
    You're up to date!
Toast Titanium 12.1 (3580) is currently the newest version available
My recollection was that my old version Toast 6.x worked best, but I think it might have been PowerPC only, and I don't recall being overly impressed with this version 12.1, and the user comments at Macupdate certainly don't give it high accolades and I understand it became worse since Corell took it over.

It seems ironic that when I was doing a fair bit of optical disk burning, I sort of wish I had a printer that could do direct printing but the Stomper Labeler and using good labels worked well, but now that I've ended up with a printer (Canon MX922) that can do direct printing, I don't do much burning, but then again, if I wanted to, I would have to buy new blank printable discs to do so. Oh well, always something I guess.

    Ah Patrick

I don't want to depress you, but the latest version of Roxio Toast Titanium is 17.2!!

But I have to say that, in my opinion, some of the previous versions were better. The current version is top heavy with masses of options and sub-options. Having said that, it's still a decent piece of kit. And it can be found here: https://www.roxio.com/en/products/toast/titanium/

I just went to http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/Pages/English/home.html, and the 64 bit version, is a separate link?

Please backup. Everything has a life cycle, unexpected and warning free. Nothing will last as long as you want it to.

Certainly no depression here Ian, especially considering your comment — in my opinion, some of the previous versions were better. I'll just maybe use my older version thanks.

Much too often it seems to be the case with all the "New & Improved" versions that seem to get produced, often with detrimental effects.

Toast 11 was much better for my uses. Somewhere from 11 to 16 that I bought and demanded a refund on, they messed up Video Conversion of MP4 files. All the ones I tried to convert and burn in 16 had video errors where it looked like people were walking backwards! Grin

I talked to support till I was blue in the face trying everything they suggested and nothing fixed it. So I got my $$$ back and continue to run 11.

A new "feature" in the newer version perhaps!!!

Or mimicking the backward "moonwalk" that was so popular some years back maybe???

Yes, it was in small print down the right hand side of the page.
