Sorry - I never know if I am in the right place, but in the event I am, please can someone tell me where has my iPhoto library with ALL my images gone? Yes I know iPhoto has been obsolete for a while, but the library was still there, and I could still access my images, now its vanished!!! Just about suicidal at this point.

We moved your post to here in "macOS Apps and Games" where it belongs.

As to your question about your iPhotos library and where it has gone, have you checked to see if it has been integrated within your "Photos" library?

    Here: /Users/your name/Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary/

If it's not there, you may have to do a restore from your backup.

Even if it has been integrated/transfered to Photos, the iPhoto Library file should still in the Pictures folder unless the OP has deleted it.

Do you have a backup system in place, so you may be able to get the iPhoto library restored or copied back.

Please backup. Everything has a life cycle, unexpected and warning free. Nothing will last as long as you want it to.

That's correct. I actually had to manually delete my old iPhotos Library after I made certain that everything had been transferred to the new Photos Library.

Yes, me too. But that was back in High Sierra, two operating systems ago. It's possible that the old iphoto.iphotolibrary has been integrated in Catalina. Are you saying that there is no Photos Library I the Pictures folder?

They may be stored as another library. Try this:
Close Photos > Hold down the Alt key while opening Photos > A menu of your photo libraries appears.

If it's there, you are best to merge them.

This happened to me last night. I was looking at photos I had downloaded from my iphone they suddenly disappeared. My whole library is gone and it says to choose which Iphoto library I want to use. My picture file is nearly empty. All 7200 of my photos are GONE! fortunately i've got all of them back. here are steps which work for me.

go to Finder> Go> Go to Folder

enter /Volumes in the search box

    Click Go

You should get a list of Volumes the machine knows about.

I deleted the Macintosh HD alias file listed, and magically iPhoto Library reappeared and iPhoto worked normally.

Okay - don't rub it in I'm an idiot. Never got around to migrating my iPhoto library to photos. (I really liked iPhoto) but they were all there safe and happy until very recently. And... I have not upgraded to Catalina as yet due to being a little nervous that some of my third party apps won't work. Now - they have vanished!!! I am devastated!!! Surely Apple could not just have sent them all off into the wild blue yonder somewhere? We are always being told that nothing is ever really gone on a computer, just hidden. Are they really gone? Good for good? There is no way of getting them back?

Thank you - for some reason this forum has always confused me. I stopped using it for a whle, because it was like looking for the minotaur in a maze of options.
