I expect this has been covered before but I have done a search and not found any relevant results.
All my saved passwords have suddenly disappeared in Safari. I have been into iCloud and unchecked keychain and then checked it again but no result. Any ideas please?
BTW I am running Mojave and use duck duck go as my search engine.

Before you do anything more, let me suggest a shutdown and reboot. I had my passwords disappear, but a reboot brought them back. I think Safari just "lost" the connection to wherever it stored the passwords.

I have tried this but no joy. I have been browsing for most of the day and had no issues earlier.

Safari stores its passwords in the Keychain. If what Jake suggested doesn't work, you may be able to restore them from your backup.

Tried restore from time machine, was ok for a while but those pesky passwords would come up for a while and then go again. Strange thing is when they came back on the MB they would disappear from my other devices. I reset the keychain which has seemed to work at the moment but there seems to be a problem with iCloud or maybe Apple as it takes a long time to connect to Apple website with the error message "server not found" but comes up a minute or so later. I will see how it goes. I have the machine up for sale at the moment so want to get it sorted properly for the new owner. (If it sells).

I don't know what the original problem was but while trying to sort it out I reset my Mac Keychain password and while I was trawling for answers on the net I discovered that resetting your keychain deletes all your saved info on all devices. I have now re-entered all my passwords and everything is now fine on all devices.
I have now got a buyer for the mbp so have ordered a new iMac from the apple store which will be delivered tomorrow. HAPPY DAYS!

Thanks to all who offered help.
