Catalina upgrade mistake

I think it was on page 87 of the manual Steve Jobs cancelled when the Macintosh first came out without any documentation.

Completely off topic here I just downloaded and ran OnyX for Catalina. RadDave mentioned it in another post, at last check here it was still pending but I can now report it is available and ran Maintainence script with no problems. But, if you have Fantastical I advise you quit it manually first. it is a little resistant to being shut down by OnyX.
It requires the usual access to Security preferences (Full System Access) and provides a detailed step by step instruction on how to go about this. It suggests you need to drag the app into the left hand window of the Full System Access pane but I found it was already there.

Phoenix, you make it sound incredibly easy but please remember Apple does not and never has allow retrograde OS installations. You cannot install an earlier macOS over a newer one. Consequently you need to completely erase the HD first.

well it actually easy is with Apple ... what is in question - would time machine backup from Catalina work in Mojave ? as you are right with the rest ...

As far as restoring data and apps I'm sure that would be fine. Time machine was not changed in Catalina and formatting is the same. Personally I would prefer a clone because that allows simple drag and drop of documents, photos and apps but I can see no reason why TM would not work.

Have got myself a bargain, a 2019 13.3" MacBook Air with 256 SSD. Picked it up online from PC World/ Currys for £895. This model is packed with a 1.6GHz dual-core 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz, 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 128GB storage and Intel UHD Graphics 617 and costs £,1219 from Apple UK.
Would have upgraded to 16MB, but PC World had non in at present. When it arrives they will collect it and fit memory free, except for cost.

Be nice to have a new Mac, my newest is a 2015 iMac.

well then, should be no issue to downgrade just more work
